Shelly Miss Cissy is a 15 y.o feral and was trapped last year and has spent nearly a year inside with us

Our youngerst ferals are 18 months now and still skittish but some are just like normal cats some however would shred you and have done in the past

We are only down to 3 who haven't been to the vet - Ace is now 4 and will sometimes just leap off doors at you but for the most part is a happy soul and Blue who has been on the inside for 8 months still will have the odd go but is settling down at 12 weeks you must handle and keep handdling and playing it does help - we have 29 in various stages of taming!

Yeah at the moment we are debating if it would be better to wait a bit til he calms down (he is a feral kitten found at 12 weeks so not used to humans at all) so far he is settling in ok and gradually getting used to us but OH thinks that manhandling him into a cage might undo all the sucess we have had so far. Another try on Tuesday, I might phone ahead and warn the vets that they may need a crush cage ready.

Serves me right for laughing when his foster mummy called for help and they both put on gardening gloves to get him from his pen to our carrier, I remember thinking "but he's tiny".

Shelly we have crush cages for the really bad ferals and it involves a bit of chasing and cornering then we scruff or move the box near to them and push failing that its welding gauntlets and 2 parents!

If you can get him in a box your vet usually has crush cages so can decant and then do all they have to

We are now down to only 4 in the crush cage - my little ladies Storm who weighs 5lbs, Lunar is 5.5lbs and both are like Bengal tigers on stuff and both have damaged vets!

Poor trainee vet, although he really should be thanking you Liz, think of the experience he getting from your clan alone.

Mind if I highjack your thread and ask for any tips on how you get your ferals in cages. We still can't get Baxter in his cage to go for his boosters, as soon as we pick him up he turns to jelly, starts hissing and shaking then the claws and teeth come out.

Today we had Shadow at the vet with Miss Cissy

Sort of goes like this

Oh didn't notice you there Mrs Wilson - clue only 2 normal cat boxes!

Shadow gets his Booster and program, dumps anals and other bodily fluids on vet for this!  We did advise that Shads is one of our nice ferals - new trainee vet!

Miss Cissy was there for a checkup on her rash under her front leg and for what we thought would be her boosters but oh no she has other ideas!

Miss Cissy will be having a dental on Friday to remove her remaining teeth as she has inflammed gums and is smiling like Elvis!  She also had a betamox injection and we have another one to give her at home on Tuesday - Trainee vet by this point in qualking a little when real vet hands us the syringe and says it will save us beringing her in on Tuesday for the second shot!  We then explain to trainee vet we had a diabetic feral so are clued up how to give injections!

Also we bit the bullet and are having Beijing speyed on Friday as she has discovered the great outdoors and loves it so once this is done and she has recovered she and Archie can both have fun on the otherside of the familyroom door!

Robin stunned as this vist only in double figures!

Trainee vet say he is on next weekend to oh good says I we have some of our nasty ferals coming then - 2 are in crush cages!

Usual vet smiles and says thought this vist was a bit short!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ;) :evillaugh:
