It works for mine and i dont treat monthly, the house gets sprayed with indorex every year or so and i think this helps. I dont see the point of monthly treatments if they dont need them, not all areas are flea heavy,fair enough if you have a cat with FAD otherwise why overload them with chemicals

Normal Drontal cover cats up to 4kg, XL is up to 6kg - the average weight for a cat is 3.5kg.

You definately need to get them on the scales and weigh them to make sure you give an accurate dose and in terms of fleas, prevention is much better than cure so regular worming and de-fleaing are a must.

Cheers to everyone once again. Also good to have that information with regards to how much they recommend worming.

Going to use VetUK for a 6 pack of Frontline(we have two cats) and the necessary tablets...unsure though if we should go for the XL tablets or normal. 1 of our cats is nearly two years old and the other is 1 and a half.

Is it possible to gauge what they'l need from this or do we have to try and get them on the scales? hehe

Actually, manufacturers are now stating monthly worming (althoguh to be fair, I dont do mine monthly as they dont leave my room most of the year, much less come into contact with anything they could get worms from), but you could do monthly STronghold and every 3 months either Milbemax or Drontal (I prefer Milbemax, but agian, is prescription only)

Flea and worm treatments should be used regularly to make sure you dont get an infestation, as if you see one flea, there are loads more in the house. Flea treatments work for a whole 5-6 weeks, whereas they can get worms a day after being treated, so it is important to do them often.

Am I correct in assuming then that if our cat doesent have Fleas and/or ticks then we don't need to use Frontline - or is it a tablet to prevent against this happening.

You definately need a regular worming tablet too to cover tapeworms as well as neither frontline or stronghold kill those and they are nasty little blighters!
I use both products, depending on what I get on offer at the time and both are great products and Mark is right, it definatly needs to be applied more regularly than every 3 months to keep them flea-free.

I prefer STronghold to Frontline, but STronghold is prescription only, so more expensive, and they still need regular worming with both. My vet did say they are seeing more cases where Frontline isnt' as effective these days.

Stronghold doesn't treat tapeworm though so you still need a wormer every 3 months (or sooner if there are any signs of infestation)

Milbemax is great for worms but it is prescription only. The tablet is small and easy to hide. You can get a non-prescription one cheaper online, called Drontal but it is a big tablet and unless it goes down-in-one, cats foam at the mouth with it.

Yes frontline is the best I would say. It protects againts fleas, ticks, mites and the likes but not worms. So you would have to get some woming tablets too, Drontol or Milbamax

But honestly if the Stronghold is doing its job I think it may actually turn out cheeper than the frontline plus worming tablets.

Frontline is fleas and ticks. You would need to give a worming tablet every 3 months- Milbemax are very easy to give. If you are giving stronghold you should be giving a worming tablet once every three months also as it doesn't cover tapeworm. Both products are good but I personally prefer stronghold as it protects against earmites as well. Either way, you definately need to be worming regularly as well.

We'v had our lovely cats now for about 2 years and have gave them Stronghold every 3 months. This was recommended by the vets and it does seem to protect them against all manner of parasites. But everytime I go into any Pet Store I always see them selling something called Frontline.

Does this simply protect against Fleas? So if I started purchasing this instead I would also have to get them some worming tablets?

Is Frontline any good? I only ask this because it's cheaper...and if so, what worming tablets would you guys recommend to supplement it?
