Hi folks,

Time for my daily posting :)

I'm absolutely thrilled at the whole moving thing, the way things have gone, the way the new place is coming together and probably most of all, the fun I've had watching the boys explore and settle in to their new home. I think it's been a real boost for them, Alfie, in particular, has had a lot of fun exploring and Frankie too although their personalities are quite different. In Frankie's case he's such an easy going ultra-friendly cat who is really enjoying his new comfy spots by the windows and on top of the settee and one of the armchairs watching the world go by. I was very concerned about how well and how long they'd take to settle in but they've both far exceeded my expectations. I think that me being there every day with them throughout the whole 9/10 day period was so re-assuring and their habits have gradually changed as they've settled in. The first night in the new flat both of them jumped up on the bed and hardly left my side all night, they just wanted to be close to me and that was a pretty special feeling, all of us together safely in our new home. Yes Mary, the windows are great, I love light, can't stand living in gloomy dimly-lit rooms, goes back to my upbringing by my grandparents who, both being on a pension and in a small terraced house with small windows we lived our lives in gloom, with only very dim light bulbs, no wonder I need specs :). The boys too love having something to watch through the windows, people and cars going by and it is much more interesting for them which is great.

I have plans for the coming weekend, just ordered a tumble dryer to go in the cupboard in the hall which shouid be delivered on Saturday as well as some more Argos (pronounced "Argo") designer furniture  :) to finnish the Living room and bedroom so another busy and knackering weekend ahead but it gives me a nice warm feeling thinking that all my labours are for OUR home and mot someone else's although that warm feeling could also be the related iin part to crawling around the carpet putting furniture together and box shifting :) Hope to have the computer and internet hooked up at home in the next few days as my BT home hub thingy was delivered to work yesterday

Cheers all

Leigh

I reckon they will be spending loads of time on the window sill sunbathing - it's a lot better than the window in your old flat.

Great news that the move went so well Leigh.  Alfie and Frankie look very at home to.  Its a great feeling when you finally get you "own place" and are settled.

Thanks guys,

Just a quick reply as I've got to leave the office for the rest of the day. Nice pun Chris :) :)

Mary that ceiling is 8ft and, as you can see, Alfie's head is brushing against it, I also have a very solid spare kettle and other heavy kitchen gadgets on top of that cupboard. The cat grass is in a sort or urn-type vase thing that I inherioted with the flat, it's great because the tub fits nicely into it and the water drains through.

TTFN guys

Cheers

That basket space is even tighter than I imagined when you told me last night.  :wow:

Love the one on top of the freezer and the one of Frankie resting while Alfie is eating the grass is very good.  What have you got the grass in?

Lovely photos.

Hi folks,

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK :)

First a big thanks to all who posted to my house moving thread. I could write a book on all that's been happening in the last 9/10 days and sometime in the future I probably will but for the time bieng a brief run down on recent events:

Saturday : Self-assembly furniture was "assembled", fridge and washing machine delivered and connected and bed was 9/10 finished BUT had a problem with the hinges.
Sunday (My reseve day) spent all morning overcoming the problems with the bed and finishing it.
Monday : The day of the move, all went absolutely to plan and the removal company moved everything and did a splendid job.
Tuesday: back at old flat cleaning, scrubbing and hoovering etc. etc.
Wednesday-Friday inc. Working from dawn to dust getting things straight and unpacking
Saturday morning : Back to old flat to meet landlady to return keys etc.etc. and afternoon unpacking
Sunday: Unpacking
Monday: More furniture delivered and assembled and unpacking
Yesterday: more upacking etc.

I am absolutely physically shattered but have got the bathrrom and kitchen finished, the lounge 80% finished and the bedroom about 90% finished and need some more furniture to be delivered this weekend. The boys have settled in absilutely brilliantly and Alfie has been having fantastic fun exploring every square inch of our new home. There's not a square inch tbat he hasn't explored, he's been in, under, on top of, through everything and Frankie has claimed one of my new armchairs as his own and just loves to stretch out on it. The love the big windows and being on ground-level and watching the passers by. Alfie has given me a couple of heart-stopping moments the first of which was when I heard a large crashing noise coming from the kitchen to find that he had somehow jumped up right on top of the kitchen cabinet and then squeezed into my laundry basket 8ft off of the ground and I managed to get him down. The other occasion was when I finished moving back into place in front of the fitted wardrobe 8 large heavy packing crates only to find that he had sneaked into the wardrobe and so I had to move several of them fo that he could get out :).

I have the phone connected but it will be a few days before I can get the computer equipment hooked back up as my desk is boxed in in one corner of the living room but I have posted some pictures to this link on BT's "Digital Vault" thingy, hope the link below works.

I'm posting from work and will be doing so until I get back online at home. We are all VERY happy in our new home, the moving of the boys went according to plan and the were perfectly okay in their cat baskets in the bathroom at either end, Frankie gashed my hand open from my finger down to my wrist on my palm struggling to get him into his cat basket but that's healed up nicely. I am please to come back to work for a rest for a few days, not having to do so much physical work lumping boxes etc.. Alfie went off of his food for a few days and that had me worried as he has such a healthy appertite but I'm delighted and relieved to say that he's 100% back to normal, Frankie, althought being fed on the morning of the moving day polished off THREE bowls off food after arriving at our new home!!!, moving obviously gave him an appertite.

More soon, hope everyone and their puds are well

Cheers

Leigh. Alfie and Frankie
