Think Moira summed it up beautifully.  Colby came, and his presence here left a huge impression, which was his purpose and his legacy.  He was - and is  - a truly precious soul.

oh guys... your messages for the wee man are lovely!  :Luv2:      had me  :'(   :'( again after only just stopping!   Paul hasn't seen them yet but I know when he does his tear gates will open again.

I have only just found this thread as we havent' been on the board much since Colby passed to be honest.  Just needed a couple of days away.  He was buried in a special place in the garden close to the house that will now be known as Colby's Corner and Paul is going to make a little sign to sit there and we will get a special plant to go there for him.  Today we had a lovely visit from Lynds who brough some gorgeous red Tulips that currently mark his grave.

We miss him terribly, as does little Herbie.  He was here just such a short time but when he arrived with us he had endured such suffering and neglect we were filled with sadness and anger but also the will to do all we could for this little tike even if he didn't manage to survive.  He was a huge character and soul in a tiny body and will always be remember as one of our stars at Sunny Harbour.  He earned a special place here and has left taking a piece of our hearts with him and we know that Bobo, Sunny Jim and the others are all there waiting on him.

If anyone deserved to live it was Colby but it just wasn't meant to be. His wee mind was willing just his body wasn't strong enough to fight to repair the damage already done.

He certainly knew lots of love and affection whilst he was with us and we hope he carried that with him to the bridge.

As always we have asked ourselves why do we do this rescue job.... but realise that this IS WHY we do it... because we care and have the compassion and love to give each and every little soul that comes to us needing our help regardless of whether they may or may not make it to their new home.   We gave Colby the chance that many many others would not have and we wouldn't change the short time we had with him for anything in the world.

We miss you Colby baby and will see you again some day.  you were loved by many... many more than you would ever know.   :Luv2:   :'(   :'(   :'(   :'(

I was hoping and praying that he'd pull through.

So, so sad that he didn't.  I'm another one who hasn't been able to stop crying for him.

But I'm so glad that there he was found and given some love and cuddles and kindness and a warm place to sleep before he had to go.  I'm so glad he knew somehting other than pain and cruelty.

You all (everyone who helps wee boys and girls like Colby) deserve medals.

Colby - a very special guy who wasn't meant by most of us and yet we all came to feel we knew him a little.

I'm so sorry for Paul and Sarahs loss. But I'm glad they gave Colby what he needed more than anything; love.

RIP Colby.

Colby was indeed special and came to represent for us, I think, all animals who are suffering. His fight was our wish that we could stop all cruelty and neglect. His loss has touched me deeply and strengthened my resolve to continue to do whatever I can, whenever I can, to help in any way I can to be there for animals like Coleby and to support people like Sarah and Paul.

I have not been around long on this forum but in the short time I have been here this beautiful little man captured my heart.

I am so sad that his battle wasn't won - everything that could be done for him was done by such loving gentle people, and at least now he is at peace after having, albeit for such a short time,  had all the loving tenderness and help in this world from his two new friends.
RIP little boy  :'( :'( :'(

I can only echo the sentiments already placed on this thread, and I'm so sad that darling Colby didn't make it  :'(

Such a special little boy, who has truly touched our hearts and lives, simply through hearing about his daily progress, and a few beautiful photos.

RIP baby Colby, run free on the Bridge sweetheart x

:'( what can i say?  Im in pieces  :'(
Little Colby's story gripped us all,had us all praying that the little purr-baby would survive.  Sadly, although he was special to us, he was more special to someone up there, he was needed more than we needed him.  Our prayers and vibes for this little angel were over-ridden, his future was taken out of our hands.
 :'(
I am sure that Colby is soooo thankful for all the love and affection he recieved from Sarah and Paul,
I am sure he is sooo greatful and is purring away at our thoughts and feeling for him.
My heart goes out to you Sarah & Paul.  I can only imagine that the pain we are all experiencing is only a particle of what you are both going through, if theres anything any of us can do, were all here.

Colby
You were sent to live a short life, and this may not have been the best of starts.  Meowmy Sarah and Paul, done everything they could.
You learnt about love, warmth, affection, comfort and the love that us humans have for you fur-babies.
I know that you had a short life baby, but please be assured that humans arent bad, and you were loved more than you will ever know.
I wish you a safe journey to the bridge darling, I wish you happy playfull times, i wish you the love you desearve from others of your kind, and although we may not be able to see you, you are always in our thoughts, always in our hearts.

RIP Colby Darling,
A true angel that touched us all  :'(

As everyone has said this little bundle of black kitten has touched so many hearts.  I, like everyone else, has followed his story since day 1 and feel honoured that Sarah and Paul accepted the name I thought suited our little black friend so well ... COLBY.

Although his time at Sunny Harbour was limited he probably experienced more love and affection in the past few weeks than in the rest of his short little life.

RIP Coldy ... you may have been small but you have left a HUGE impression on so many.

Colby came to Sunny Harbour under the guidance of Sarah and Paul so he could have is a very short time all the love and care and attention he obviously had been denied in his previous life

he came in and stole all our hearts and leaves a gaping hole

I have printed off a piccie of him and he is already on our Clan Cats no longer with us wall as our offer was very genuine and although not meant to be he will have the Clan Cats at the bridge to join along with all the others from the Purrs branch of our Bridge kids

So to Sarah and Paul you gave him everything and more even nurse Herbie and I know he wil be missed for a very long time and thought of often both here at the Clan Homestead and at Sunny Harbour  :Luv2:

Little Colby touched my heart and I too have cried and cried for the loss of this special little soul.  I am so glad that he found his way to Sarah and Paul so that he could know love and tenderness and to realise that there are people who DO care - he could have passed alone, scared, confused, lonely and in pain but because of Sarah and Paul that, thankfully, didnt happen.  :Luv2:

I never actually "knew" you wee Colby but loved you like one of my own, you tried so hard to live but although your spirit was so strong your little body just couldnt cope - run free sweetheart - RIP special Colby xxx

We have all read the very  :( news about little COLBY and i know on here we are all cat  and each and every one is special in their own way and to us ,  :Luv: but every now and then a very special cat comes along, COLBY was one of these special ones, just an ordinary little black cat but one who somehow made himself special in everyones hearts, he fought so valiently with Sarah and Pauls help to stay here with us, but the angels decided that they wanted this very special little man for their own and so he left us  :'( and im sure i speak for everyone when i say R.I.P. little man and send us a sign that you are now safe on the bridge till then play hard darling :Luv: :Luv:
