Waitrose shoppers amongst Purrs members - and our lurking readers
- will know that Waitrose has a community support initiative. Each store gives £1000 per month to local charities, the share of which is decided by shopper votes. Each time we shoppers check out, we get a token to put in a big plastic box. At the end of the month, the tokens are added up and the donations apportioned: the result is posted up in-store.
This month, one of our local charities (in Fulham) is Battersea Cats and Dogs Home
Today, as I dropped my token into that silo for the fourth time
, I was pleased to notice that it has attracted the majority of the votes.
It warmed the cockles of my heart to see the support for animal welfare
