We got our furbaby Poppy home after being AWOL for 8 long days and they only way that we found where she was was by leaflets I had posted around not once, not twice but for a third time all to the same area in 1 week and only the third time was a leaflet seen by the lady that phoned and lead us to the rescue of our furbaby.

Don't worry about bugging people with your posters and leaflets.

The lady said she never ever went to the shop I gave a leaflet to for the third time but that fateful morning she did for the first time and for that last week had been aware of Poppy in her office and trying to catch her and someone in her office was all set to take Poppy home as her own when and if they caught her until she saw my leaflet and then out two and two together, made three and phoned me.

Please do not underestimate leafleting as it lead us to our baby.  Just keep churning them out.

yeah, there's always a window open, though usually he shouts too, for good measure!

He was a housecat, we only started letting him out when we got another cat. the other cat has since adopted a new family and only comes back to nick food now and then, but we've obviously let sully stay as an outdoor cat. as for the A131, we live right on it, opposite the police station! i had a neighbour knock on my door earlier to say she's 95% sure she saw him at 1am, just behind our house but heading away from it, so at least we know he's ok

When you get your posters cover a big area, unneutered toms can travel miles for a queen so you need to raise awareness for some distance. Are you close to the A131? Im not a million miles from Halstead so will keep my ears open.

I have to ask, its very very unusual for a cat to be chipped but not neutered (other than stud cats of course), what made you chip but not the other?

I can only hope! I know most of my neighbours, so have been round everywhere today to ask them to check. We don't have a printer, so have to wait for the posters, annoyingly!

while you are waiting for the posters make up some leaflets to put through peoples doors....asking them to check sheds etc

Because he hasn't been neutered though, chances are he has gone off to find a female.

Hope he comes home soon xx

Thanks Yvonne, I'm hoping he will be back, I'm just posting his details anywhere I can think of! As for the tips, I've tried most of them, with the exception of posters (which I'm waiting for from the lovely people at identichip). A couple of neighbours are away, so I'm hoping he's snuck into one of their houses and got locked in! They're both due back tomorrow, so fingers crossed. I'll be back with an update as soon as I hear anything!

Hello Sullysmum   :welcome:  to Purrs

So sorry that you have made your way here under such sad circumstances - I feel it is probably early days and I do so hope that Sully comes home.

Have you seen Sam's useful tips:

http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,305.0.html

It may sound obvious but leave some food in a bowl by the back door or in the garden.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

My cat Sullivan (or Sully) has been missing since Tuesday morning (2nd March).
He is a male ginger and white long haired cat, coming up to 2.5 years old. He has a ginger moustache, and a distinctive white patch on his back, and also has 3 black spots on his nose. He hasn't been neutered, but is microchipped, and wears a red collar (though he does have a habit of losing them). He was last seen in Chapel Hill, Halstead, Essex, on Tuesday morning. He is quite a vocal cat, and will "shout" to say hello to people. He is very much a home cat, he always comes back for his dinner, and has only been gone for one night previously. He is a much loved family pet, and I miss him desperately!!
