Wow, I was surprised with the huskies though, you would have thought they would have placed those in homes really. I held an owl last year and got to stroke another one, that was a wonderful experience - think the pic is at work not at home though
Please spay your cat

Hiya,

The bird with the long bill is a Marabou Stork Lynn, they've got a lot of birds there. They do three flying displays a day, with different birds  and you can look around the aviary as well.  They have a small sort of farmyard, rabbits, chcickens, pigs, otters etc..
I know what you mean but I'm nor sure, I think they're for display rather than food. AFAIK they have husky rides in the Winter they certainly looked happy and playfull. In general I'm firmly against the keeping of wild animals but centres like this do a lot of conservation work and you can see that they genuinly love and care for their animals.

One learns some very interesting stuff, I didn't know that some of those birds can grip with 8000lbs per square inch of pressure in their claws !. It's a great feeling to stroke one of the birds and tickle its head feathers, it loved it :).

Cheers

Leigh

great pics leigh.  I always wander about these places keeping chickens and rabbits etc (do they produce the food for some of the birds of prey etc lol)

tell me what type of bird was that ugly thing with the big beak ?

your pics are fab.  Why did they have a pack of huskys ?  are they there all the time or do they get to go home ??

Hi folks,

As some of you know I went to Eagle Heights near Sevenoaks in Kent yesterday. It is a great family day out, they have flyings displays of birds of prey, Eagles, Hawks, Owls etc. as well as a Cheetah, Meerkats, Otters, Huskies and other animals.

As proimised a few pics

Sorry, got a bit carried away with the pictures :).

If anyone is interested in going there below is a link to their website, all in all  a very enjoyable day out, well priced entry cost and no extra charges except the cafeteria.
