That was such a beatiful poem Stuart, brought tears to my tears (which isn't hard right now).

My other half has already decided he wants to adopt another oldie which I think it a great idea but it won't be for at least a couple of months because it's too raw at the moment. I keep putting food out for him and even picked up a tin of his favourite food in the supermarket before realising he couldn't eat it.

:RIP: Henry
I Haven't Left

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.

I purred to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired, and thought it's just not fair
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

Now the day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

Thanks everyone.

Don't worry Desley it wasn't that we ignored the volunteers, they were just stunned he was getting a home.

I can't get used to him being gone though, keep expecting his head to pop out his igloo and demand request his dinner, and it really breaks my heart when I open the fridge and see his little milk cartons, meds and his cheese spread (to hide his tabs in).

Really sorry to hear about Henry  You gave him a fantastic home to spend his golden years in and I'm sure he rewarded you for that

RIP Henry, safe and sound at the Bridge until your Mum is ready to collect you xx

Remember Our Love

I was chosen that day
I'm learning to fly
the world took me away,
but please don't you cry

And I chose you today
to try and be strong
so please don't you cry
and don't say that I'm gone

When you're feeling alone
just remember our love,
I'm up near the stars
looking down from above.

Remember our love
In a moment you'll see
that I'm still here beside you
when you're thinking of me.

So sorry to hear this

And now we lay you down to sleep,
You're finally at rest
Our love for you we'll always keep,
You were the very best

You gave us many precious years
A memory for each new day,
Then came the day of all our fears,
The day you passed away
A part of us you took with you
Our hearts are filled with pain,
But when this life on earth is through,
I know we'll meet again.

I am sorry to hear this, but he was so lucky that you ignored the volunteers and gave him a home regardless, it might not have been long, but it would have been forever for him, knowing such love, and having parents who did their best for him, and stayed with him till the end. RIP little one.

We had to have my handsome boy Henry put to sleep today, I always though it would be the hardest decision I would ever make but when we looked at him during his last moments I knew it was the only right thing to do.

We got Henry almost a year ago from cats protection and to this day I still remember the homing person say "you want what cat?" He captured my heart almost instantly and although my other half took some convincing I just knew he was meant to come stay with us. He has really been through the mill the last year, he was diagnosed with CRF almost instantly, there has been a dental, foot infection, flu, and eventually hyperthyroidism in the last 4 weeks. Every time he looked like he wouldn't make it but always pulled through with his typical stubbornness.

Yesterday we noticed he was bumping into more walls than usual (his sight had been fading for some time now and vet believed it was his age) and realised he had completely lost his sight, he demanded cuddles and needed to constantly be with one of us. Around midnight he could no longer walk and we realised it was time. Perhaps I should of taken him straight to the vet then but we both (Henry and I) needed to come to terms with the fact he had finally found something he couldn't beat. He sat on my knee for hours while I stroked him and let him know how special he was.

We stayed with him to the end which is the way I think he would have wanted it, he got so clingy towards the end he clearly wanted to be with someone when he went.

For such a small cat the house feels empty without him but despite how much my heart is breaking I am glad I took him on, even if it was only a year I'm glad his last one was jam-packed with love with a slave wrapped tightly around his little paw.

I promised him a milk bowl that never runs out on the bridge so I hope my little man finds it.
