Definately understand. For us, we are in a position to get bigger (within reason) we just need the fosterers to do it.

We have 10 fosterers but rarely are all in use.. Mainly because that could be over 20 cats and we cannot afford to keep 20 cats in our care in one go and then continually. Also someof our foster have long term cats and some kittens etc.. So we could in theory have more then 20 or so with a few preg, kittens in our care.. Currently one cat can cost us 100 quid with vets etc... and we rarely get the donation to cover that..

We will soon be on our 200th rehomed cat and currently are vets bills (without the other expenses, food, litter) are near 1500 a month. So we cannot afford to get bigger, if you see what a mean..

Logistically more cats in pens means more money, volunteers etc, etc and we dont have the resources. So many branches do have a logistical limit

We could in theory take on another 2 fosterers (we have had people ask) but we decided 10 was enough for us all so we capped it for another year or so..

Cannot save the world, but if everyone does something we can have a jolly good job trying too....

I would imagine would usually do that yes, if people's circumstances allowed it but we will be adaptable... To be honest, we would prefer indoor fostereng but a lot of people's circumstances wouldn't suit that, especilly if they have their own cats. I would happily have someone who is experienced in cat care with a cat in an outside pen until there was an indoor foster place available. At the mo, we just want more fosterers and are happily able to accomodate either. Most of our fosterers came from the previous branch (before it shut down and reformed as it is now) so we knew they were experienced but now we want to recruit some more people, I would imagine we will be encouraging as many indoor fosterers as possible.

Do you have people foster for a while to check reliability before investing in pens? - I know we are moving away from them. Partly due to the fact that indoor fostering is better for the cats and also the expense if people back out. I know we had a fosterer with a double pen and they started taking long holidays, including one lasting 6 months. A lot of money unless they are well utilised?

If you live in the East Surrey area and would like to foster either cats or kittens then please contact me as we are rather short of fosterers. It can either be in the warmth of your own home or we can provide specially built cat cabins which can be put in your garden. Our fosterer liason volunteers can deliver the food, cat litter and anything else needed to your door and we are very careful to place the right cats with the right people to make our lovely fostereres lives as easy as possible. Please pass this on to anyone else who you know who may be interested.
The fact is, the more foterers we have, the more cats we can help!
