Keep Ozzy in a quiet warm place and make sure that Barnaby does not bother him. Both will need reassurance as Barnaby will be wondering where Ozzy went and why he is not behaving his normal way. And Ozzy will be wondering what hit him ... poor baby - glad he is home safe :Luv:

Poor little Ozzy but he'll feel so much better after the procedure

Humans can get the same condition, you may know.  Very uncomfortable and, as Blackcat says, very serious indeed if left untreated.

Let us know how it goes

Hope Ozzy's op goes well, and that you can come to an arrangement on the bills if your credit card won't cover the full amount initially xx

Hope the op goes well for Ozzy.  If you cant pay it all but can pay most of it maybe your vet will let you pay off the rest later?

entropion is much more common in dogs than in cats, so your vet will have plenty of practice on dogs. I imagine with cats having a third eyelid that may complicate matters, but not too much. In fact, sewing the third eyelid across temporarily can assist the healing process. Shadow has mild entropion because his eyes are a different shape to their general surrounding soft tissue, so I generally maintain it with regular bathing, and occasional intervention by the vet. But if the actual lashes are rubbing on the eye ball then surgery is very necessary and the sooner the better as it will ulcerate the eye ball and cause scarring that leads to blindness eventually - a nasty problem all round that one.

I hope his op is successful and just needs the one, it will look rather swollen and sore at first but they soon settle down, its important to gently bathe and keep clean and your vet should show you the best technique to do so.
He will also need to wear a collar so he cant scratch them so he will feel sorry for himself the first few days, lots of yummy treats will be needed!

Your vet should be able to give you a basic quote, difficult to know how much as vets vary so much by region and even locally you get a vast difference

Is Ozzy very old?

Hope the op goes well for him

With regards you paying the vet first then claiming, some vets do this as that way they know they are guaranteed to get paid. Imagine if they agreed to let the insurance company pay direct and when they billed them they refused the claim on a technicality - the vet would then lose out financially as you could just refuse to pay.

What you could do is ask the insurance company to pre-approve the claim before he has the op then ask the vet if they will accept direct payment once you have the pre-approval.

I think this is quite an unusual op and your vet should give you a quote before you agree.

Trouble is they know you have insurance they often dont bother..........like mine!

I would ring your vets and ask them how much it will be, they have to tell you if they want you to pay before the insurance comes in.

Every vet charges different so nobody here could tell you the cost.

I hope the op goes very well and please let us know how Ozzy is after
