We use Advantage. We once bought Frontline from PAH but didn't think it worked as good - Jameson got fleas. Back to Advantage.

Its not just the cat that needs treating its the environment too. Any flea that joins a frontlined cat will take time to die and when thats dead another will have joined because there are thousands of eggs and pupae laying in your carpets and furnishings refreshing the cycle

I always used Frontline as well and liked it but I didn't apply it every month as they suggest. I usually did it every 2-3 months. However my vet just recommended Advocate and have used it for the first time. Vet said she thinks Advocate is much better. I'd never even heard of it before.

I use Advocate and although quite expensive I find it works really well

Stronghold is definitely loads better than frontline in my opinion.

My lot seem loads happier now.

Bertie's milliary dermatitis has gone.

Frontline just didn't work on my lot anymore.

I used frontline once when I got the girls, not a single flea since - I didn't particularly mean not to keep treating, but I forgot when the repeat date was and it was difficult finding a time where the 2 were sleeping in different places (usually they sleep on the wardrobe where I can't reach them and trying to do it when awake is messy!).

i don't use frontline because i think it's a waste of money, it doesn't work.

I have used frontline last week and they are still scratching, they went to the vets and he said  Mary had a flea, but I've been through their fur and can't find anything. I use this every six weeks but I don't think it is working as well as it used to.

I have yet to own a cat that has fleas. I know I'm very lucky. I've only treated Chilli and that was mostly because the vet made me. I agree, why treat them for something they don't have. Like antibiotics and head lice, they develop a resistence making it more and more difficult to treat when a problem does arise.

I bathed Chilli as a kitten a couple of times and that was a mission enough without attempting it as an adult!

Philllip, bathing will definitely help keep fleas at bay. I bath all my persians every 6 weeks or so (depends on the coat, they are all different textures) and I don't have a problem with fleas - and I don't use flea treatments either (unless, rarely, I see a flea) Nor do I use a flea shampoo.  I don't believe in putting flea treatments on cats unless absolutely necessary - and as you've found out, fleas are becoming resistant to frontline because of the trend towards using it too often as in monthly treatments.

When ever we have tried to bath our cats, it must sound like we're killing them  and then come the claws  :evillaugh: it's impossible to bath ours without a fight.

I bathed all 5 cats last night due to fleas....

I use frontline, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

Its like the fleas have developed a tolerance to it.

So I thought...sod it......I'm going to bath them and use a flea shampoo and get rid of all of them on the cats.

Being ragdolls. Their fur goes "translucent" when wet and I could see all of the bug*ers.

Only thing is...Elle and Bertie were a joy to bath as kittens. Last night they turned into the cats from hell.

Especially Bertie being 5.2kg. My God. I think I would have rather been in a boxing ring. Elle was pretty strong as well

I really ache today. Scratches everywhere, but at least I have 5 very happy cats who smell nice.

Maddy and Delphi started head butting everything once they were dry. It was like they knew the fleas were gone and really appreciated it.

I'm going to get stronghold tonight.
