So she's getting fussy now  :wow:

Pics as promised from inside and out. Bronte decided to do a little modelling for you. As you can see the recent downpours we have been having have turned my back garden into a quagmire so the flap is a tad muddy!

Thanks - I now have to find my tape measure. It sounds a bit small but might be OK. I'm surprised they haven't extended their range.

Just after I posted pics of Jeremy (the owner thinks they are boys  ) she appeared again screaming at me for food. She wouldn't eat Sheba or Hi-life dry so I had to give her Felix

She looks very content with her bowl of Sheba.

Mark, the actual clear plastic opening flap measures 16.5 x 17 cm. I took some photos of it in the door for you to see as well so will post them later.

I bought mine direct from Petporte and have to admit I was very pleased with their customer services.

OK - will do it whilst I remember and when I can find a measuring tape. My son is going through a pretend rescue stage and building stage and things keep disappearing at the moment!

Thanks - that would be great  :) - no rush though as we will be getting a new back door at the same time  :evillaugh:

One of the advantages is when it is really cold, the flap will stay shut in the wind. It gets really windy here and the flap is always blowing open in the winter.

also, one of the local underfed tortie sisters is getting very checky - she trotted in yesterday demanding food. I was worried she might spray so escorted her out (I did give her a pouch of Sheba for her trouble + Alice's leftovers)  :Luv2:)

How could you say no to her?  :Luv2:

Mark I can measure my Petporte for you if you like? Dino isn't wide but he is a very tall cat and he has no problems with it - he even managed to get through it with the buster collar on the first night he had to wear it. Full stage panic to get him back in before he escaped.

I also want to check the opening size. Although Kylie still has some weight to lose, she will always be a big cat and I hate her having to squeeze through. In London, I had a small dog flap left from the previous owners and it was perfect  :evillaugh:

Funnily enough, I have just been googling. bestcatflaps is Cramar Cat Sanctuary and the posts were from someone who works at Cramar.

I don't know why it had to be done like that?  :shify:

Probably nothing sinister but it would have been better to openly say order your catflap from Cramar - cheap prices and all profits go to rescue?

I do need to buy one soon but not comfortable with the way it was done.

I personally don't deal with people that aren't honest enough to state who they are - the same way I won't buy from companies who spam. I would rather pay a bit extra and get it from a reputable seller - a least you know you have back-up if there are any problems.

I think pretending you are a customer is really devious and treating people like fools.

It's £105 direct from Petporte.

I didn't know you could set in to lock at night automatically - sounds interesting. I don't think Kylie would be impresses with that option  :evillaugh:

I may be too suspicious but these look like plugs for a seller

I just had to tell everyone I recently bought a petporte by emailing Milly on bestcatflaps@aol.com - she sent it and I got it 2 days after paying by Paypal.  It only cost £89.99 - usually they are over £120 and more.

I had a black one as have a black front door.  She has black, white & brown.

Its a fantastic product and keeps the local smelly tom from terrorising my cats - they were scared and started to spray themselves in the house - this Petporte has stopped all that!! Its great!

Email her, even for advice and to see if she thinks it can help your situation.     :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

I got this reply from Pet Porte.....

Thank you for your return email and I am sorry to say that Misha's chip is of the old type and therefore won't work with the Pet Porte. I am assuming Misha is over 8 - 9 years old as this is when the chip went obsolete.

We are going to be releasing a version soon that will read Misha's chip but then unfortunately that version won't read the new chips as it would comprimise the read range of the scanner. If however we find that we can get a scanner to reliably read both types of chips with sufficient read range then we will of course let you know.

I hope this has helped with your enquiry but if you have any questions or concerns then
please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be very happy to help.

Kind Regards

Roz I can take a photo and show you what it looks like if you like (although may be a bit muddy as the garden hasn't completely dried out yet and have 4 sets of muddy paws pushing on it).

You can programme up to 10 cats into it and all you do I set it to scan and then pass the cats underneath the scanner so that it reads and stores the chip. It takes seconds. You can also clear all the chips of it and scan in others if need be.

Im sure I read on the site you can add up to 10 chips and yes you just programme each chip in - sounds easily done.

I've been asked about these but haven't seen one in place yet but the blurb on their website reads pretty good. I presume you can just add more chips depending on the amount of cats you have.

I'm just a little worried about the teething probs because at £125 for a catflap plus the expense of having it fitted (if you don't have anyone to do it for you) it could work out very expensive should you have to have another one refitted if the first one failed.

I don't have a catflap into my catproofed back garden because Angel, one of my dogs, is the cats' personal doorman and can open any door in the house quicker than I can and whenever one of the cats approaches the back door, she simply opens it for them....letting in all the icy droughts at the same time.

I will follow this thread with interest though because many of my customers ask me about new and innovative products.

Here's the link to Pet Porte's website:

Best wishes,

Roz

Pet Porte emailed me back and said their online chip checker sometimes has a few problems so I emailed them Misha's chip number and they said they would check it with the catflap and get back to me.

I just read your other post saying one of your microchips doesn't work, what a shame. If you do go for it would love to hear what you think of it. I don't post on here that often as am a mod on a guinea pig forum (yes as well as 4 cats I have 5 guinea pigs) so most of my online time goes on it, but I do try to check in regularly and have a read through.

Yes thanks hun for the detailed and really helpful PM - I am emailed the company about 1 microchip not working to see if they are widdening any time soon the different chips used.

Hubby really liked the idea and depending what the company come back with and what the vet says about re-chipping we shall see.

I spoke to Mrs R on PM about this but thought should update the thread with how got on with it. My hubby got it fitted reasonably easily and we found it easy to programme and operate. However after 6-8 weeks we started to have some problems with it not opening and locking when it should. I complained on Christmas Eve although Petporte were then closed until after New Year. By end of first week in Jan (or perhaps during second week, can't remember exactly) I had a new cat flap arrive at my door. Their customer services is just about the best I have ever come across and that more than makes up for the few problems we had with it. I really like it.
