I know what you mean Mark, we got Tibby when I was 3 months old and I took her to the vet to be put out of her pain when she and I were both 26.  So even in 1986 we didn't have brill cameras and photos I had were lost in floods and house moves.  I recently scanned a few photos I did have of her so that I will now never loose the few I have.  Hope your mum can find some of her.  :Luv2:

She was white and Tabby - I just wish we had a photo. I don't think a single picture exists. I will ask my mum. I remember that I loved her  :Luv2:

I used to put Tibby in my dolls pram and put doll's clothes on her and play with her in the garden but she just let me, she never pulled away or meowed.

We used to do that with our Tibby as well  :evillaugh:

Were all cats call Tibby in the 60's?  :evillaugh:

I remember one game involving putting a tennis ball in a stocking and bouncing it on the wall

Wearing Stockings even then Mark!!  :naughty:

We called it Knock a door run down here in Yorkshire.

And don't forget Hop Scotch and Hoola Hoops.

I just learned something - I was just about to post that the most antisocial thing we did was knocking on people's doors and running away. I was convinced it was called "Knock dan ginger" but found out it was really "Knock Down Ginger" - I really was a cockney kid  :evillaugh:

I don't want to hear dogooders bleating on and making excuses for them about deprived backgrounds etc.
I come from a very poor background - we didn't go round hurting animals and committing crimes  >:( - we went to the library and whatever other entertainment we could get for free! - We were not goody 2 shoes, just decent normal kids.

I couldn't have put it better myself, we played in the park and each other's gardens, you don't see that now, presumably they're all in their rooms with their Playstations or whatever. We didn't get drunk at 13 years old (unlike the 13/14 y.o boys that were abusing the supermarket checkout operator until they wer escorted out by securty the other week when I was in there doing some shopping), we didn't vandalise, we didn't steal and we didn't harm anything or anyone. I know there are godd and bad, that's very true and I do find it heartwarming when I see kids naturally playing and enjoying themselves, that's what childhood should be about IMO. I said to a friend recently, borne out of my experiences and observation of recent years, "I used to frequently feel ashamed of being British when on holiday abroad, now I often feel ashamed of being British in my own country.

Cheers

Animal Cruelty is just disgusting - harming a defensless animal for no reason. At least a human can scream- shout for help what can an animal do - apart form take the abuse  :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: there is no ned for it -

Stories like these just make me love my 3 even more. if that could be possible.  And I wish I could save evey stray cat, take them in love - feed and keep them safe and warm for their entire 9 lives.

It is sometimes hard to remember that not all kids are louts. But I volunteer at a horse rescue and, to be honest, they wouldn't manage without the teenagers who volunteer their time all year round. They come all through the winter, every weekend, after school and are there all through the holidays. They are generally really good kids who love horses and do what is asked of them (most of the time!).
So they definitely aren't all bad, although in Brighton we do seem to have our fair share!

There is good and bad everywhere though isn't there.  Was reading in my local paper about a collie dog that got away from its owner - he was 65 with a heart complaint and false leg.  Two young girls saw what happened and went over to the owner and asked if they could help - then spent the next hour-ish trying to get the dog back for him ....... which eventually they managed to do.  He's recently moved ooop north from the South and he said that people wouldn't have made an effort like that for him there.

Doesn't everyone get away with a slap on the wrist nowdays?!. A friend at work moved from Newcastle (not know for being a quiet sedate area) to leafy "The Good Life" Surbiton, down the road from me and know locally as "Suburbiton". One night local kids set fire to his new VW Beetle convertible and burnt it to the ground. The police said that they knew who the kids were that did it as they always hang around the local park where the car was parked but they couldn't (read wouldn't) do a thing as they were all under age. He said how ironical it was, move from a tough neighbourhood in Newcastle where he never had any problems like that to leafy Surrey and get you car incinerated, it's a mad world, getting madder by the minute.

I was outside my place a while back waiting for a friend to pull up in her car and local kids were lobbing glass bottles into the road that they had "liberated" from the re-cycling bins outside people's houses. I was watching out for my friend so that I could stop her before the broken glass slashed her tyres and I called out to them and they ran past me all about 12/13/14 in the obligatory "hoody" and one swore at me and slashed at me with something, could have been broken glass could have been a knife, either way I duckled back an dodged it. Makes you think doesn't it.

Cheers

According to the RSPCA, it would be even worse without the new Animal Welfare Bill. I think it shows that the bill is ineffective as people are still getting away with a slap on the wrist.
