we have three 10 month old kittens and I have been delaying letting them out until the better weather (well, that's my excuse).

You don't need an excuse to keep them in, as long as you follow your head with the informed information and local knowledge you have about the dangers of cats going outside, that is the right thing for you to do.

No, no news. I can only hope that she has been found and is being looked after. Poor baby. This has made me even more reluctant to let my little one out now. I couldnt bare it if the same thing happened. she is at the vet today having her op, and getting a chip, and i was going to let her out after she healed, but now im scared to in case she runs away too.

Oh dear ... praying to St Francis that she is OK and will found soon.

Please remind your neighbour to keep checking at all the vets and rescues ... don't assume that just because they have reported her the vets will check the records.  They need to be reminded.

No, unfortunately not. There has been no sign or sightings of the poor little baby. They have rang round local vets and rescue centers, and nothing.
I can only hope that somebody has found the little one and is looking after it thinking it is a stray, not realising that it has an owner. Mind you, it had a collar and tag on, so maybe this is unlikely.
I know it sound silly as it wasnt my cat, but i just feel really upset, and just keep thinking about this poor little one.

Thanks for all the advice. I will try and pass it on to my neighbour in the hope that they can get this kitty back. They have already put posters up all round the area, and we all keeping a look out for her. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Gill.

Christina as someone who lost a kitten who was a similar age to this little one my main advice would be to get as many posters and flyers out round the immediate are.  The more posters the better.  As this little one has never been out before it will be frightened and will have gone to ground but when she is hungry she will come out.

Sending lots of positive vibes and prayers she is found safe and well.

Sorry to hear your furbabe has gone AWOL.

Here are a few things to try:

1. Posters, Posters, Posters  with picture and details with contact number.....hand out to neighbours and anyone you see. Put up in local shops, pubs and supermarkets. Stick to all local lamp posts. (If it rains go and collect them and replace - the neighbours and council don’t mind you putting them up so much that way). Also put one in your and friends cars – it’s amazing how many people see them this way. Make smaller flyers and push through every letterbox on your streets and the surrounding area.   Remember you can never have too many posters out there!   It is also a good idea to offer a Reward … of course this doesn’t have to be money, a box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers is just as good.

2. Knock on  doors and ask neighbours to check their sheds and garages WHILE YOU WAIT … it's surprising how many people say they will check but as soon as the door is closed they forget. It is recommended to knock on 10 doors either side of your house on both sides of the street.

3. Register him lost at all vets/catteries/rescue homes within a 20mile radius (remember to keep a record of everyone you contact) follow the link and clink on the map to find local rescues in your area:  http://www.catchat.org/adoption/index.html

4. Leave food out and a toy of his

5. Leave out an unwashed item of your clothing

6. Put the contents of your hoover bag on your garden - it’s full of smells that they will recognise and if it doesn’t bring him directly to your door will at least hopefully keep him in the area.  Alternatively if you have a litter tray that has used put some of the used litter on the garden as this will have familiar smells in it.

7. Contact the local fire brigade and see if they have had to rescue any stuck cats

8. Ask the local children to look - they are great for knowing all the local hidey-holes and love helping. Also have a word with your local post-person and milk man if there is one that delivers in your area.

9. Ask the local radio station to announce he’s missing and give out a contact number

10. Put an advert in the local paper

11. Contact your local environmental services dept (bin men) they keep a log of all animals picked on the roadside ... I know this is not a pleasant call to make and hopefully it will come back as negative.

12. Go out after dark when it is quieter with a friend / partner and walk round the local area gently calling every so often (give him a chance to answer you). Keep talking as you walk round that way if he is in the area he will hear you.

13. When you talk to vets and rescues, ask them about any known local feral colonies and where they are based.  If  Kitty has been missing for more than a few days s/he might have wandered further afield and might be “hanging round” near a colony for security (safety in numbers) and company. If vets/rescues know locations of colonies, these might be useful to get some ideas of where to start looking.

Finally have a look at these sites - they are all EXCELLENT

http://www.chaptanservices.com/purrs/index.php… please get a post on this site ASAP …. This is a relatively new forum but most of the memebers have moved over from CatChat are are very experienced resucers / carers and cat lovers and everyone is incredibly helpful.

Good luck and stay positive.

Hopefully your little one has just got itself shut in a shed somewhere.

And finally …….  IMPORTANT NOTE:  When you get your furbabe back remember to remove ALL the posters and inform all vets / rescues / websites etc that they are home.

I'm sorry to hear about your neighbours' kitten, Christina.  A lot of cats do go missing and return safely but Sam (Fussy Furball) has an excellent list of actions to take.  I thought I'd post a link but I can't find the full link so I'm hoping she spots this and comes to advise you.

Would you like me to move this to 'Lost and Found'?

Hi everybody,
Im writting here on behalf of one of m neighbours. I dont really know them that well, but having cats myself i felt i had to do something. Basically they knocked on the door a few days ago saying they have lost thier five month old female kitten molly. She has never been out before, and apaently is on medication for something. I have seen her pictures on a poster, and she is so gorgeous, grey with lovely blue eyes. my baby is only six months, and also has never been out so i cant imagine how worried these people must be.
Basically im just asking if anybody lives in the monkspath area of solihull, and if they do could they please keep a look out for this beautifull little girl. I am so worried for her.
Is there much hope that this kitten will be found safe?  Has aybody else lost a kitten and then found them again? I know she is not mine, but i am just so worries for her. Thanks for listening. I really hope she is found.
