Yvonne, so sorry to hear of the sad ending to your story, I don't suppose it's much consolation but at least you don't have the uncertainty any more.

Oh, Yvonne. You didn't get a proper chance to get to know her, and I know that won't mean you didn't love her, but that's so sad. Don't feel guilty, I'm sure Milly knew she was loved by you for the short time you had her.

RIP, Milly. :(

Yvonne sorry this couldn't have the happy ending you were hoping for.  At least she is home now forever and I'm sure will be leading Cleo in fun and games at the bridge.

I do know what you are going through as we are still trying to trap Rio who left us the day we moved in our mas escape, we haven't seen hime for about 4 weeks now and the weather has been bad but we live in hope our tabby boy will come home one way or the other.

In the winds last night we lost part of our greenhouse and duly started letting the cats out before we discovered it but thankfully noone went that side of the greenhouse.

Only ever borrowed never owned but always a pawprint in your heart.  Somehow no length of time is ever enough and sometimes its short and bittersweet but at least you brought her home and will rmember this special lady forever.

Again deepest sympathy for your loss :'(

I know it's no comfort but at least you were able to bring her home and she will always be with you in your heart.  We are all here for you and send you and your hubby lots of love and hugs.

RIP Milly and play hard at the bridge little one.  Your Mummy and Daddy loved you so much more than you realised baby.

How to begin to explain this story is very difficult and so I shall start at the beginning of the day about 9.30 am, hubby and I went down to check the trap, it was empty.  Hubby had to go to work and I said that I would ask if I could have a look around the plantation and then walk home.  The lady in the office gave me permission to look around and I gave her some pictures of Milly, she was very nice, she had cats of her own.  I looked around all the greenhouses and there was no sign of any cats at all, I walked home through the fields and no sign of any cats at all.

11.38 am I had a phonecall from the plantation owner to say that the workmen had found my cat and unfortunately they thought that she was dead but still warm.  I raced to the plantation, the workman gave me a box and I stroked her, she was warm but her chest was not moving.  I went as fast as possible to the Vet.  I rushed into Reception and said please look at my cat, the Receptionist grabbed the box and ran off with her.

The Vet confirmed that she was indeed dead and the microchip matched.  Not sure how exactly because she looked perfect but it was a head injury.  Hubby thinks that she probably ran into one of those panes of glass in the series of greenhouses on the plantation.

"Milly - I wish you had not ran away and would have let me care for you, I would have provided you with a good home and lots of love."

We buried her in the garden alongside Cleo.

Tears are starting now, as they have been on and off all day.
Thank you to everybody for helping with ideas and support, I am very grateful.

Rest in Peace Milly my darling - I feel numb, guilt and failure.

Sorry to hear about Dr. Evil, it must be a really difficult time for you lately.  I would definitely send a message to Liz as Sam suggested, she recently moved to the middle of nowhere and her (37) cats forced a window and escaped soon after they'd moved in.  I think she has them all back now bar one who is a very clever feral who keeps evading the traps, hopefully she'll have some ideas of what you can do to get Milly back.

Still got everything crossed for you....

So sorry to hear about Dr Evil .... RIP little one you will have lots of new friends to play with at the bridge.

Hope your daughter is OK and not too distressted at losing him.

Glad to hear that the weather over there isn't as awful as we have been having ....  fingers crossed it's not on it's way to you.  Also pleased to hear that Milly probably hsome shelter in the greenhouses .... although of course being out in a rural area makes it just as difficult to catch them as if they were hiding in town.  I think Liz is the authority on catching cats in rural areas .... she moved to the middle of nowhere in Scotalnd with her 37 cats!!!!!!!!  Maybe she will be able to offer you some advice.

Hi Sam / Helen,

Not much to report at the moment, no more sightings and just the one cat caught in the trap this morning, “a mean looking tabby” was the description that I was given.  Hubby has moved the trap a little bit, put some more cat food in it and hope for the best, I just hope that she is still in that area and not moved on.

The location of the area is a bit remote, there are no schools or shops in the area.  Milly is/was residing at the local Post A Rose Plantation, where there is a series of greenhouses, so she will be warm but I have no idea of food sources in that area, a caravan and a house and lots of fields, it is situated about one mile from my house, through lots of fields, a rural area.

We have not had mean winds but unfortunately it does have a knock on effect living on a small Island, the cargo boat has not been able to sail, not because of the weather here but because of the weather over there.  As a consequence there was a load of panic buying yesterday and now supermarket shelves are completely empty of fresh food, it does not take much for the knock on effect to have a rather large impact here.

Awful day yesterday, My daughter Clare (12) and I had to make the decision to put our guinea pig, Doctor Evil, to sleep, most horrendous decision to make.  He had not been well since Monday, he had a visit to the Vet on Monday where they tried antibiotics and hydration, no improvement, not eating, drinking or even moving.  The Vet said that if he was in the wild he would have been picked up by a predator.  He will be buried today in the garden alongside the cats.

Not having much luck with pets lately but it means a great deal to have your continued support.

Any more sightings Yvonne?  Would you be able to borrow another trap so you have more chance of getting her?  Also you could ask the local school kids to keep their eyes peeled for her, they will be out and about playing or walking to school so may have more chance of spotting her than the normal target audience of adults.

Stay near to the trap (within earshot) is best. If not please check it hourly, a trapped cat can go ape if left.

Good luck, and i can reccomend using tinned fish such as pilchards or sardines

Hi everybody,

Thanks for that Paree it is really encouraging.

Hubby went up this morning to check the trap - quite adamant that there would be nothing in there and to his amazement there was a wild cat inside, he thinks it was male and it was real mad.  As he was letting the cat go he spotted Milly, he called to her, she looked at him and ran off.  The trap has been re-set and all we can do is wait, again.  I believe the workmen will ring if anything is sighted in the trap during working hours.

That is about it for the moment, at least for the time being I know that she is safe which is a relief.  I just hope we can catch her.
Thank you for all your good wishes and I have to say that I have a lot to thank the forum for as if it was not for you guys I would never even had heard of a cat trap.  I think we have more chance of catching her with a trap than without.

Once again many many thanks xx
