My most loved Ariadne........
She came from the Humane Society. A gorgeous Tortie. But had no teeth. Well, still had the roots of her canines but that was all. Someone had beaten and abused her. And kicked her in the face, causing her remaining teeth to sheer off. We went from the Humane Society to the vet where the remaining roots were extracted (and antibiotics administered because they were badly infected) and then she came home. 4 of us (well, 5 counting me) there were at the time. She didn't bat an eye at any of them but was horrified at the idea of a home, apparently. The poor girl took up living under my desk - and stayed there for days. Only cat I have ever had that simply did not know how to play.
But, you know, she eventually came out and adopted us all. She is long since gone now, but remains on, known as "the Mother of us all" because that's what she did. She adored us all. Took in each and every last one of us (and there were LOTS after her!) and loved them as if they were her own kittens (even the guinea pig - who, I must admit, found this a little stressful!)
Long story short - rescue cats are the BEST cats. And I know you and he will have many wonderful years together. And maybe someday write a tribute to him as I have done to her.
