Well my darling Bertie your one year anniversary has passed and due to my back surgery today is the first time I could sit at the PC and say you are sorely missed by all of us especially your Daddy who was very quiet on your goodbye day.

so my darling boy just to say you are loved and missed by all of us some knew you others hear about you but above all you bought the wonderful senior dynamic to the Clan and had a wonderful time with us in your golden years and lived through so much change, your blindness and the move but through it all you were a wonderful gentle boy and our gain was someones major loss

So darling Bertie we love and miss you still but would not change your ownership for anything or the joy you bought us during your 7 wonderful years as the Clan cats older statesman :Luv: :(

Its so nice to know that the lovely man cares about the little ones departed. I always worry when mine are taken to be cremated that they dont handle them with care.

When I got my lad back from being cremated my beautiful BJ my horse, The lady telephoned me to say BJ will be at your vets for his Mummy to collect tomorrow. We had the casket opened and we scattered his ashes in the stream where we had spent many sunny, spring and snowy days chatting lol well he listened. (have now made myself bawl)

 :( :( :(

I dont understand how people dont have cats, dogs etc in their homes. I know the heartbreak is awful but the rewards having them around is so wonderful as Bertie proved to his Mummy and all that knew him play hard at the bridge with all the lovely friends and brothers and sisters that have passed over the bridge too

Yes Liz that is indeed mike.

He is the nicest, lovliest most sincere sincere man i think i've ever met.  I knew him quite well and he cremated both my greys (jake & archie) plus sooty and my 2 rats..never once did he accept any sort of payment  :)  Obviously slightly different as i saw him on a regular basis through work etc and i always gave him a nice bottle of something in leu.  It cant be the nicest job in the world but if ever there was someone best suited it is Mike, an absolute gem of a man  :Luv:

ps..lots of years ago he had boxers, one of which was a very playful dog and use to love the bin men and would run every week to greet them..unfortunately one day the poor dog ended up under the wheels of the bin lorry and he told me it was this incident that led him to start up the pet crem service as he wanted this type of service himself and it wasnt available.  Our area is very lucky to have him.

Its very comforting to know he treats our loved ones with every bit of the love and respect we would ourselves  :Luv:

Enjoy preparing your rememberance garden, i'm sure you will find it theraputic and your idea of planting flowers for the season they passed in is excellent and one i will remember for passing onto others  :)

Just to say Bertie will be home on Saturday after his cremation and will take his palce on the shelf in our bedroom with his brothers and sister until the garden of remebrance is ready to safely put them all in.

Have to say the owner phoned and was really sweet but he then said did you loose anotgher baby earlier this year oh yes it was another oldie our BC Breeze and we got a discount!

I hope this will be our last for a long time as it does knock it out of you emotionally but he had a wonderful golden years time with us and was only ill for 48 hours and we both got to say goodbye to our darling Bertie.

It is with aheavy heart and lots of tears that Robin and are announce the loss of our Darling Bertie :'(

Bertie went to the Bridge at 12 noon with his Daddy in attendance as I was in Ireland.  He went peacefully and for that I am greatful and so is Robin.

Bertie was our first attempt at Golden oldie fostering with his sidekick Moose (He left us on 18 January 2005 with liver and heart issues) they came on 17 December 2000 having been 11 and 7 months in a CP shelter as both had medical issues and were oldies then, Robin had the day off on 18 December 2000 and both got full boosters and ID chips and were one of my best Christmas presents in our time together.

For the first 11 months of his time with su Bert lived on top of the wardrobes in our bedroom with food on oneside and litter tray on the other and used to come down at about 4 am to see us and then decided we weren't going to throw him out or leave him became an active Clan member Moose and he were numbers 10 and 11 and lived life to the full, he did over his time woth us develop arthritus, a blood disorder - he didn't clot well and he had no teeeth and went blind at 18 but all these aside he lived life to the full had his own routine and was a Daddy's boy.

He loved his first summer here at Fetternear and went on his daily patrol up to this weekend just gone, he managed to be caught in a trap - he loved food even though he wasn't part of the great escape.

He is sadly missed and and Robin told me with heavy heart he felt he couldn't just leave me a voice mail, but I had reservations about my trip and said goodbye yesterday to my darling boy, our Clan is missing a leader and now the girls are in charge in the age stakes.

We all love and miss you, the clan is quieter for you being gone so now run free with your Bridge brothers - Toerag, Haggis, Moose and Breeze the BC and look out for her hissyness Miss Holly.

Bert of Ardoch and Fetternear age 21 years and 5 months
