As was said FIP is the most feared initials for a cat and it cannot be helped or cured and you gave Simba the most loving and caring decision

Sadly Caroline theres no way of controlling what happens once they are exposed, its down to their immune systems.
An affected cat can harbour it for months and then something just triggers it off.

Hamish was diagnosed with CRF and 10 days later I had tp let Him go
I think We all go through the what if stage..........I did
if only they could talk

Please dont beat yourself up thinking on the what if's, and just remember
you gave Simba a loving home and everything he'd ever need

Please dont blame yourself Caroline, life can be so cruel and unfair sometimes. FIP are the three letters that strike fear into the hearts of every cat lover. You coulnt have done any more Hun and you gave him the kindest gift of love at the end. xxx You will probably never know where it came from and will drive yourself nuts trying to find answers, Simba knows how much you love him xxx

Its just so hard when lots of different things keep going through my head, keep reading up on Fip to see if there was something that could of been done for Simba,it is so confusing! Could of he had it when we got him from the breeder and it came out in him resently or one of our other Bengals shed the virus and he got it that way. Don't think he could of got it from Corky or Geri because they never went anywhere near their cat litter trays. xx

Oh Caroline.....you must try not to torture yourself........You kept in close contact with the vets, I am no expert on dry FIP but I very much doubt that anything done differently would of had a better outcome for darling Simba!

so much everyone, Still can't believe it myself,I keep thinking that would the vet have been able to give Simba anything while we were waiting a whole week for the results and his kidneys were getting worse,cos I did ring the vets up and told him the other kidney got big too!

Caroline , I know exactly how you are feeling , I was in the same place three weeks ago. Just remember that you gave Simba a lifetime of love and in the end gave him the last kindness you could.

I lost a cat to FIP, and the other cat I had at the time had nearly 4 more years with me, so hopefully your other babes will be fine. The majority of cats who come into contact with the coronavirus will shake it off.

I am so sorry to hear your news about Simba xxxx If you are worried you could have your other cats tested for corona virus but even if they have this it doesnt mean they will go on to develop FIP xxx. As Desley says you really need to notify this 'breeder' in writing of what has happened, if you are not comfortable with doing this id be more than happy to help you out xxx

Caroline, Roz had a little cat who had FIP and her other cats are fine....his was wet FIP I believe.

Lesley so sorry about your loss too! I am going to be so worried about my other cats now, but the vet told me not to be obsessed with it! (but you can't help it) it might not happen at all he said. There is no time limit to when or if ever they are going to catch it. He said he has cats himself that one hs had it and the others never caught it. But it is still a worry. Just hope we don't have to go through it again! (couldn't cope with any more heartache)xxx

Pagan was only with us for ten days - he became very listless, had no appetite, very jaundiced and I think his kidneys were enlarged but it's all a bit of a blur now. His coronavirus titre levels came back as over 10,260 I think it was, so although we never had a post mortem, (the only way to confirm FIP) our Vet said it was the most classic case he had ever seen and he had referred to another Vet in the practice, who had done a thesis on FIP and she concurred with his diagnosis. Although I have lost faith in one of the Vets at my Practice, Alan, who dealt with Pagan has my full trust.

Caroline, I'm so sorry to read this, I know it probably doesn't feel like it now, but we know what you are going through, I lost Pagan to FIP in December and am crying now for Simba and for Pagan. Life is cruel sometimes and you don't deserve this.

RIP Simba, play well at the Bridge with all our babies and send your mum a sign to say you are okay.

I really do no how hard it is! Simba was such a beautiful cat and didn't deserve to die so young. I will cherish him for ever and ever,we buried him in the garden with Ernie, felix and sooty, they were all beautiful cats which I will never forget!. But he was the youngest ever to go to the bridge. (still can't believe it) xx

I am still like that every so often and its coming up to three years since Kocka went to the Bridge. All these sad threads bring it all back but it bonds us all together cos we understand so much how bad the pain is.

This is the first stage of the grieving process and so necessary to allow you to come to terms with Simbas loss. I was hurting so bad that I emailed a grief councellor at Blue Cross, I think it was and I also emailed CP cos I knew that I needed another cat immediately.

Each of us has different ways of coping but its hard so very hard

We understand Caroline and am sure this will last for a time. Its such a hard thing to lose a cat but especially in circumstances like this.
