Thanks so much for your replies - such a relief - hopefully things can get sorted when she goes to the vet on Tuesday.  She seems fine - and eating well - will keep you all updated.

My brothers Maine Coon has had Calici virus and is now a carrier but there ia now a year old kittencat in the house hold and no problem. Chester also is an outdoor cat and has other cat friends who also have no problem.

Chester unfortunately had to have all his teeth out though cos of the gingervitus.

As calciivirus is one of the causes of cat flu, and the other cats are vaccinated against it, it doesnt necessarily mean she would have to be rehomed on her own, although there are many strains of calici so vaccine isnt 100%

Totally agree - as i have said 2 of mine have had it and i have a house of 10 !!
Once a cat has had calici they do remain a carrier  but neither of mine have had it agian.
Calici is norm stress related

Oh bless that little Flora.  It may be worse because she must still be so run down after giving birth to and rearing nine kittens.  That's some feat! 

I hope it all works out well for her...she's a super little girl.

I couldn't see ulcers in Flora's mouth, but she's always had runny eyes on and off.  I guess the vet was giving me the worst case scenario re the other cats.  All the others seem fine - she's eating and seems well in herself, but obviously the blood tests will give us more info.  She's already been tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids, both were negative.

My Issey had Calicivirus when she was young but has never had it again -
Also My Lala had it when i took her in  and again she has never had it again.

Were there ulcers in her mouth Denise ?

Thing is with Calicivirus although your lot are vac they could still get it while the virus is live in Flora

WEll Flora was supposed to go to her new home this week, but that has been postponed as the vet seems to think she has callici virus (affects the eyes and gums/gingivitus).  She's having a blood test on Tuesday to see if she has it or not - obviously she's been around my cats but they are vaccinated so the chances of catching it are very slim.  So if it's posiitve it looks like Flora will have to be homed somewhere without any other cats (and I won't get to see her!!!!)  Anyone got any info or experience of this callicivirus?
