Bless him - when I picked Rolo up after his dental, the vets had some sample bags leftover from Dental Awareness month, and they said he didn't need the dental biscuits, yet for a few weeks, they were the only ones he would eat. no one likes them anymore though!! he likes Dentabits too - think he is the only one - and the one who doesn't need them!!

Since having his teeth out Ollie has started to eat biscuits

He will eat the Whiskers denture for treats.

I have to say i have no issues with my oldies eating dry - Zia is 18 next month, but I am quite pleased that she eats as much wet as she does, as she came in OCtober on a purely dry diet, and had been for ages - I dont think she could ever eat a purely wet diet. I must get her bloods sorted though.

Oscar used to break into my mums pantry and rip open a box of Tetra-fin fish food just to get at it!

I don't want him eating too much because of the CRF

That's my concern with Tom. Whilst he does not have CRF, he is 18 now and absolutley loves JWB dry food and concerned he drinks sufficient. I take it away from him if I catch him eating dry but he manages to sneak a bit quite often.  It's all a balancing act really and, like you say Mark, the right dry food has far higher meat content than Felix which is his dinner otherwise.

Jaffa has just eaten brown rice and stir fried celery  :shify:  If I gave him that he'd turn his nose up at it, but it was my supper that I couldn't finish.  I put it on the floor and knew he'd come to investigate but thought he'd give up when he realised there was no chicken left (and before you think I'm a cruel meowmy leaving him no chicken, I did give him some raw chicken prior to cooking and a piece of cooked chicken before I added the stir fry sauce) but no - he scoffed the lot.  There was quite a bit of rice left too.

I don't want him eating too much because of the CRF but if he eats a bit, it is a lot better for him than the Whiskas or Felix he insists on eating  :evillaugh:

Hi Mark,

Jack had his teeth removed when he was less than a year old due to an autoimmune condition. He hasn't looked back since!!

There's nothing he can't eat if he tries (and trust me he tries)  :shify:

He and Fred have learned how to open the fridge door and I saw him go past on Friday with a whole slice of left over gammon which he was attempting to suck all the flavour out of

After managing an entire slice of cooked gammon with nothing but gums dried cat food is no problem

I have had a few toothless cats now, and all have been able to eat biscuits - I spent months putting Snowy's biscuits through the food processor though, till she pinched some of Ginger's, then I realised she could eat them!! Ginger would sulk if he didn't get his supper biscuits (he was on a diet), and he could eat raw meat despite having no teeth, it just had to be small enough pieces for him.

If I try to feed him dry, he turns his nose up

C'mon Mark - you know the first rule of cats and food - turn your nose up at what you're offered but eat anything that's not intended for you!  Although my boys are pretty good at eating whatever I give them, they do occasionally lack enthusiasm.  However, the other's dish which contains exactly the same and often from the same tin is invariably more appealing and will be eaten at great speed if the chance arises!

Jaffa swallows all dry food whole, even the large dental biscuits.

So true - I was making dinner a while ago and gave Willow a pouch of Gourmet Perle - which shw turned her nose up at - she then went on to lick up all the bits of raw broccoli off the counter
