Just another vote for kittycollars - they're great and if you think your cat is likely to lose lots of the collars, then Marla does really cheap, good quality ones for a really good price. I wouldn't now go anywhere else for my collars and would have no hesitation in recommending them!

I'm a bad meowmy!

I've just put the collars on the cats and they're now sulking 

RW went mad 'cos of the bell (will be keeping an eye on him, if he doesn't get used to it i'll snip it off), Keli's needs tightening but she's in a funny mood so i'll leave that for a couple of hours so she gets used to it.

Don't think they've ever worn collars before

Ok I have a smart  cat who has worked out how to take off his own collar  - he'll wear it if he feels like it, otherwise he just tucks his chin in and pushes until the safety release kicks in 

Any tips for solving this?  is there a type of collar thats still safe but this won't happen?  or do I need to buy collars by the grosse for when we start letting our little 'angels' outside 

The current collar catch just looks like those black plastic rucksack buckles - is there a better design out there?? I'm planning on doing an order from kitty Collars as soon as I work out what size they need but will their collars be a match for Charlie?

On the issue of collars, i was walking in our woods the other day and spotted a collar in the leaves.. It was black so hard to see but still had a bell on it with ID. I opened it up to find it had Betsy on it.. Betsy was one of my cats i lost around 9 yrs ago, one of the most healthiest cats i have ever known until she succumbed to cancer around 10 yrs of age.. She was part havanna and was the only cat i have had recently that used to catch rats...

Betsy was a free spirit, but finding that collar brought back memories.. I remember her bringing a dead seagull through the cat flap onces...

Still, all my cats have collars on and (the snap away ones) they loose them often and i have a good stock of them (all are the reflective type). Living nr woodland, collars with load bells at least gives the wildlife a chance. Leo having had his 6 rabbit today in 2 wks...

But considering he is all white they are pretty dim rabbits.!

WOW! 9 years ago...thats quite unique that you came across Betsy collar.

At the moment i'm defiently considering another break/snap away collar for Alfie, we have some tree's over the back of us in another persons garden they must be about 18ft tall and Alfie always climbs them so defiently a break/snap away, also like the idea of stocking up on collars.

Mine have ones from kittycollars too, the woman that runs it is soo nice and helpful too. The only thing is the black diamante one I got for Meeko has a dodgy safety buckle and falls off all the time so I've had to keep it off him. And Belle lost his the second day he had it on

I've just ordered 3 collars from kitty collars for my rabble!

Best quality i've seen for a long while + they can be personalised with dietary requirements, name, telephone number etc.

P+P only £1 as well regardless of size of order

It's a sad fact that cats are very good at losing collars, never known any type of collar to be 'loss proof!'

I'd take the fact that your puss keeps coming home without collars as a sign to only ever use the easiest breakaway type collars for him, if one at all.  Clearly he is catching them in something to keep losing them, and there is a risk that without a breakaway collar, he could end up getting caught and potentially even hanged by his collar.  My two have kittycollars as well and I would also really recommend them as the best collar option.

Mine have got safety ones from kittycollars, I'd only use safety clip ones on them, they havn't come off yet but they have only been on for 2 weeks!

I don't no about anyone else but our cats have had quite a few collars, and they've gone missing on various occasions going outside

although Alfie, is chipped i still would like him to have a collar, he's had 5 in total all lost or they've managed to brake, he has had a safety clip collar and that came off outside somewhere never to be seen, he has had an elastic collar which also has gone missing, he had a velvet one but they seem to brake and fall apart, he has had a plastic type collar with buckle but i found that to be quite heavy for his little neck, anyone have suggestions of a good cat collar?
