just saying thanks to everybody who sent messages of support for rolo.
I'm glad to report that he had a successful op to remove malignant adrenal tumours and is now in good health and completely off the potassium supplements he used to take- his remaining gland is functioning well.

Rolo is undergoing an x-ray this evening to discover what is happening.
The vet is going to do the operation on him in the morning (providing the tumour has not spread) his potassium levels are a little better and he remains on a drip tonight.
The chance of survival is 50/50, we are both hoping and praying that the outcome will be good.

Believe or not, one of our other cats Mikey is not very well either and he will have to go to the vets in the morning.
He is making a gurgly sound (not very loud) and coughing occasionally but is esting etc...
Any ideas?

I only have experience with CRF but I would say, unless he is in pain or suffering otherwise, there is no need to PTS - I would agree with others an get a second opinion. I don't know how you go about finding a specialist - maybe there is a veterinary college near you- hopefully they could advise. Sorry I can't help.

Are you insured? I would be asking to be referred to a specialist hospital. I'm not sure where the nearest one is to you but your vet should have mentioned this already.

Bazsmum, there is no way that Rolo will be PTS unless i get an explanation and it is in his best interests. (Which it isn't)
I think it is disgusting we are being fobbed off like this and I am pulling him out as soon as we find another vet worth going to.

so sorry you have not had a response so far. I can not understand. There are a few very experienced people on this forum so if you PM say, Lynn or someone like that, they may be able to advise. There is someone else whose name I can not recall but is has vetnurse in it who may also help. Also Mark has a CRF cat and may be able to give you some comfort ... what a terrible situation ...

I have no medical advice but I dont like the thought of the vet wanting to pts especially if puss is eating well.....Hopefully someone will come on soon who can help with your queries!

Dont let vet pts (Im sure you wont) until you know 100% that it would be in the cats best interest!

Also, can people advise us of a good vet in this area (beds/herts/cambs/bucks)who is cat knowledgeable and caring.
The fact that the vet does not know the problem but wants to put him to sleep is unacceptable, esp as he is eating well.
Please help!!!

Hi my girlfreind is a member on the forum. she post this yesterday.

levels were 2.4 yesterday, so they were just slipping into a crisis. Now he is on a drip things should be improving. He already takes quite a bit of medication but the vet spoke about increasing it which I hope he does. He has enlarged adrenal glands and that seems to be the root of the problem, however, we don't know why they are enlarged. Obviously, the vet and ourselves are keen to find out.

Got some news today about rolo still the same. they are now putting him on 3 Tumil K a day.
They say they dont no what is up with him.they do all the test they can do he has also been tested for CRF but he dont have that. other thing they say was it could be a tumor on is adrenal glands they say both adrenal glands look enlarged they say best to take both out. if not put him to sleep.
what do you think We should do
