Sorry - I'm feeling a little 'out' of this conversation in the sense that . . . do I understand correctly . . . . or is it a joke  . . . . you feed your cats defrosted WHOLE mice???

LOL! Yes, all my cats are fed a mainly raw meat diet, with the occasional whole mouse (or day old chick - not for the squeamish  ) thrown in as it were LOL!

I changed them all onto a raw diet nearly 3 yrs ago now as I found especially with the persians they were fairly intolerent to the grains/cereals in dry food especially and some wet foods too, as well as many other health problems associated with dry food including dental problems and urinary problems. I did my research and joined several raw feeding groups and made the decision to switch. Mice and chicks are included from time to time, because even with properly balanced raw diets its hard to completely replicate the fur/feather aspect of a 'wild caught' diet.

And yes, I think you will find many 'conversations' about this subject!  ;D

I know that cats will hunt and catch their own prey and don't have a big deal with the whole idea of you feeding them entire animals (and this is coming from a family of vegetarians who understand that their three cats are NOT vegetarian . . . .) but I am  . . . . well, I am intrigued!!!

Has this been discussed before? I will search . .. . . . .

Do they like eating them or do you warm them up first   I've never thought of giving mine mice but I don't think I could stomach it somehow

Defrost 'em overnight and if I think they are still too cold I'll plunge the bag with them in into a bowl of warm water to get them to - well, mouse temperature LOL! Not all of mine recognise them as food though, its only really Gypsy, Ben, George and Harry who love them, the others think they are something to played with :sigh:

Its not as gory as you might think, they tend to demolish them pretty quickly with no real mess!

No Bengal poo is really stinky - it has a completely different aroma to normal cats poo. Ask Linda she'll tell

Tell me about it and I would say siamese is on parr with it as well   :sneaky:  I always know as soon as that awful smell starts filling the room and you hear one of them in the covered tray, it's either Becky, Benjy or Dyson, and guaranteed out they pop looking so innocent

I suspect it is a combination of the cat's personal metabolism and the type of food you provide. Food that is high in bulking agents, like diet food, tends to produce more poo than normal food...

Most of mine go once a day, sometimes every other day - no terrible smells - one of the many benefits of rawfed cats!  :)

Milo goes almost every day sometimes twice a day, for a tiny adorable cat, I can't believe how much he stinks!

Jess goes every couple of days, and isn't that stinky

I don't really worry about poo's, (unless something is really abornormal) my vet told me as long as his going twice a week its fine

I must have the stinkiest cats around as they poo a couple of times a day....I have the odd one who only goes every other day so I suppose its normal..... ;)

Generally about nce a day - something everyother day depending on how much they have eaten. Thankfully the lads are using their outside looss  ;D

Max does go most days, but the amount varies to be honest  :evillaugh:  Some days he won't go at all, but I put it down the the fluctuating diet he's on at the mo with the renal stuff.

How often do your cats poo?  Charlie was pooing every day but has only done a tiny little one yesterday and nothing so far today.  Don't think he is constipated as not showing any signs.
