I so agree with what everyone has said. Living alone, my babes are my family and when I've lost one, my grief is as strong as for a human. Only on here would people understand that.
Sending

Sorry to hear off your loss  -  It is incredibly hard, trying to wade through the grief.
When my lovely Willow was PTS at the beginning of January, i spent the first week at work doing nothing, but staring out of the window.
I kept scuttling off to the loos to cry and i cried on the way to work and on the way home.
It has got easier, but it still jabs at my heart when i least expect it.

We're all here for you, and know what you're going through,
sending comforting hugs

I know what you mean about work - Matilda died on a Saturday and I had to go back to work on the Monday and ended up crying in the toilets.  Luckily it was just before the August Bank Holiday so a lot of people were on leave and didn't notice.  The next year, I lost an aunt and was entitled to time off work, and it seemed ridiculous because I wasn't almost as upset about losing a 90 year-old-aunt who'd had a good long life as I was about Tilly.

It's still not long since you lost Bertie and it WILL feel better in time, I promise.  It was months before I could go a day without crying for Tilly.  Finally now, I find myself laughing about her sometimes as well as crying.  My mum and I were reminscing about pets we've loved and lost the other night, and we laughed about a time when Mum was catsitting while I was at a conference and Tilly really misbehaved  :evillaugh:  I can remember her with fond memories as well as sadness now.  You will feel the same about Bertie one day soon, honestly.  In the meantime, you wouldn't be human if you weren't grieving

RIP Bertie, you are very handsome.

Yes I agree about what you say and I just didnt function at all after Kocka went to the bridge, she was my reason for living.

Its hard cos there are good days and bad days and sometimes a bad day jumps up and kicks us when we thought they were decreasing. You will always remeber Bertie

So sorry for your loss. I know what you mean about work though, when Nigel was put to sleep in August my beloved cat of eighteen years I was expected to go in as normal and just get on with it. I will admit though this helped me as it took my mind off things. My friend also had to have her cat pts at the same time and was absolutely devastated, she ended up ringing in sick yet when her step dad passed away who she wasn't close too she was given compasionate leave and told to come back when she felt ready. I'm not saying that a pets death is worse than human loss, it would be nice though if somtimes it could be recognised how much it can affect people and in some cases more heartbreaking.

Sending you lots of

So sorry - it is tough. . I lost my Gran and our Siamese, Binky, last year. It is a horrible time to have to go through.

Sorry you are hurting so much.  I can only tell you that it does get better with time and until then you must allow yourself to feel your grief to heal.  Big

My wee man Bertie was PTS on 23/12/07 and I miss him dredfully still.

My Granda who I was very very close to died peacefully earlier this month and I am shattered by the loss of both of them so close together. My Granda was just days short of his 90th birthday and had a great life, died peacefully and is now re-united with my Granny who he missed dearly but everytime I try and explain to my baby sister that Granda has gone to look after Bertie (she is only 3) it hurts so much.

It has actually really brought to mind how much people don't realise how much pet loss can affect someone. My work have been great over my Granda, I was off for 4 days and they sent flowers to my home - they knew I had changed working hours to try and see him more. However if Bertie hadn't been ill when he was - right in the middle of festive holidays - then I would have been back at work right away and expected to function normally so in some way it seems as if my grief is still rawer because I didn't get the same chane to 'deal' with it if that makes sense!!

Anyway sorry - realise I am rambling now! I have two new furbabes, 11 year old rescue boys. They are gorgeous and very affectionate although it had made me realise that the bond I had with Bertie was really special and he will never be replaced in my heart.

rest well my sweetheart
