Pearl and I were at Cam Cat today and I think we ended up having a pretty good day out.
For a championship show, the household pet entry was
really tough, more so than usual - ALL the cats were good and I wouldn't have liked to have been the judges. I would imagine there was a lot of humming and hawing and head scratching going on during the judging.
Pearl won her open
and then had three firsts and a third in her side classes
almost making it a red card day. She is also now
officially pretty as she won Prettiest Female as well as Female With Most Expressive Eyes. She also won AC Female from Cambridgeshire and was third in AC Cat from a Shelter. In one of her side classes she managed to beat Susanna, who was Supreme Non-Pedigree Shorthair in 2003 & 2005. She's my little star is Madam!
Unfortunately Pearl didn't get shortlisted for Best in Show this time, but guess you can't win 'em all.
She also blotted her copy book a little by hissing at her Auntie Irene while being judged...
Myself, well I ended up volunteering as a steward and spent the day stewarding for Margaret Rodger who was judging British Shorthairs and Foreigns. I learnt a hell of a lot in those few short hours and just managed to avoid being bitten by a Bengly while attempting to take it out of its pen.
One poor steward did get bitten quite badly by a Turkish Van, I do hope she was OK as her hand was well and truly chomped.
Now, I'm absolutely shattered - was up at 5 as my friend Linda was picking me up at 6:30, stewarded all day, sort of missed lunch (spent it cuddling my girl), got home just gone 6 pm and I'm soooo dozy I've been walking into walls and doors. Added to the fun, I have to be at Snetterton for 9 am tomorrow and put in a full day behind the camera. I's gonna be wasted by tomorrow evening...
