Well, we don't get out much so we can justify it  :evillaugh:
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Lol, thats nearly as much as our TV cost!! (It was £800 and I thought that was a ridiculous amount to spend on a telly!)

Yep, we wanted Sabriel but with my name being Sabrina we figured it would be too close. So Lirael it was, when she dies (may it be years from now, or decades) i'm getting the symbol from the book tattoo'd on my arm.

Thats a really cool idea, I love those books! I'd love to name one of our cats after a book character, unfotunately OH doesn't read much and wants them to be named after thundercats!

We are toying with the idea of getting the stand that has built in surround speakers but it's expensive - I keep hoping the price will go down  :evillaugh:

Thinking about it, it may be a 40, we saw it in either currys or comet then went to check the price in the sony shop, who claimed that no-one else had it yet, this was just after Christmas and the model only came out in November, it amused us and we tried to explain that it was cheaper elsewhere but this bloke was being stubborn so off we went and bought it from the original place, cheaper and with a better warrenty!

The tv storage table thing is pretty old and isn't designed specificly for any kind of TV, its just a box on wheels really, my OH already had it when we moved into our new place and theres nothing wrong with it so we havn't replaced it.

Not sure - a lot of the new TV stands have a connector for them.

Which model did you get?

We got the KDL46W2000 (or the 42  )

We were in 2 minds about getting the X model but it was £500 more - ours seems fine and we don't use it for games.

When we were looking round for it, we saw the one we liked in Curry's but didn't have a pen so OH's "aide-memoir" was

KD Lang, 46, W (She likes women) 2000   :evillaugh:

On a completely different note - is the name Lirael taken from the Garth Nix books?

Maybe I just need a different TV stand, we kept the old one and the new tv came with this flat based thing you slotted into the tv which is fine but it's just not enough with hard headed cats in the house.

Ours is on a tv storage thing, but its not that big and is on wheels, not sure if the belt thing would hold up?

Willow tried a couple of times but doesn't bother any more - ours is also a Sony 42" (or is it 46"?  )- it has a belt type thing that screws in to stop it toppling over. Ours is on a big Georgian coffer so the belt is screwed into the back.

how 'handy' is your OH. sounds like you need a broad-based frame you can slot the tv into so it does not tip over ...........

She doesn't want to lay on it though, she wants to walk on it.

She's a monster so we're used to her being naughty but I don't want her pulling the tv down on herself.

Lift her up there and she will realise it is too narrow to lie on.

Anyone know a good way to make sure the TV isn't damaged.

She keeps trying to jump up onto our new flat screen tv, she jumped up on the old one but it didn't matter. She's done this twice and is now banned from the living room as it amlost tipped on the last jump.

Or should I just face defeat and keep her out of the living room.
