Hi sorry not replied sooner but just got back Friday thought I'd update you about Soxey cattery stay, I called the cattery the first 3 days he was not eating the first 2 days but had started eating by the third. Picked him up on Friday and he was not a happy cat, but the woman at the cattery said he had opened up the last few of days, she is cat mad too so was not annoyed I called as much, she had a cat like Sox that died 18 months ago  :'(, so she liked him lots. Got him home and he settled OK in a couple of hours the first while he just zoomed in all the rooms to see everything was OK.

It does feel horrible but I am sure he'll be fine.  The main thing is that you know he is safe and well cared for.

Maddiesmum  - Yeah I'm sure it is safer that is why I've put Sox in the cattery, if it is a couple of days I get relatives to watch him bit it is 10 days this time. I'm sure Charlie will be ok (but you'll still worry! I'm calling at 10 this morning to see how he is I'll be a bit happier if he a has came out his box)

Charlie has to go into the cattery for 17 days in April whilst I am on holiday (my first hol for 9 years due to nursing sick babies!).  I am already worrying but my two neighbours (who usually look after my babies) and I felt it was safer as he wont have been here that long and might run off if he keeps finding I am not here.  Hopefully he will be ok and at least I know he will be safe.

We left Archie in a cattery last year for 10 days. It does feel strange when you get back to the house after dropping them off. In spite of my worries Archie was absolutly fine and had been spoilt ;D He quickly settled back home as well. At least you know your cat will be safe ;D

Thanks  i was just a bit worried about his reaction, I'm calling tomorrow morning and next week to see how he is (was going to tonight but restrained myself). I've promised to get him some toys in Germany and he has his blanket, 4 toys and a scratch tower so he should keep himself entertained and i left treats for each day for him!

blackcat your right it feels very weird It would be horrible to be without a cat for 8 months (i had not had a cat for a couple of years before Sox but had lots growing up and when I got Sox I wondered how I did without a cat ;D)

I'm sure he'll be just fine there   He will now be able to milk you for even more cuddles and treats when you get back  :evillaugh:  Hope you have a good time, I bet Sox will use the opportunity to catch up on lots of sleep  :)

definitely less stressful to go before you start packing. If they see you packing then get stuck in a strange place, they fret that they will never see you again. If you just take them there, they tend to settle better ... you are just living in a cat-free zone and that is a place that feels incredibly weird, I know, I did it for 8 months ... :(

I'm sitting at home alone without a cat for the first time in a few years, I've had to put Sox in a cattery for the first time as could not get someone to pop in on him as i normally do. I am going to see my niece in germany for the first time, but he looked so scared at the cattery and hid in his blanket in his carrier, he looked soo mad at me, so sitting here feeling very bad! Has anyone else's cat reacted like this is it normal i don't leave until tomorrow morning and i though this afternoon before packing would be less stressful, but now I'm not so sure it was :scared:
