Hello!  Thanks for asking - Geoffrey is absolutely fine now - he has a little infection which seems to be clearing up well so that's great news  :wow:

He's in for a dental at the end of the week so I'm wondering whether to have the pre-op bloods done in any case just to double check that everything else is ok there.  It's so nice to have my greedy, talkative cat back  :wow:

They can do an inhouse analysis (check for blood/protein/ph/SG etc) and get results to you in a couple of hours. Taz's culture had to be sent off and took about a week.

I am not sure but if you are worry just call them and ask , some times they leave all the phone calls for after the surgery hours, but some vets do it right away.

Glad he is feeling better .

I did have some of that crystally stuff too, but as I have two cats I deliberately just sat somewhere I could watch what was going on so I could catch the right cat doing the right thing!  I would have shut him in a separate room with the crystally stuff tonight if I hadn't got one by then.

How quickly do bacteria grow? (i.e. when am I likely to hear back from them!)  I'm guessing they would dipstick it straight away and would have rung me by now if anything untoward was there.

He's already booked in for a dental next friday so I'm wondering whether some of those bacteria on his teeth have got down to his kidneys?  So with a bit of luck it's something nice and simple which will clear up easily.  He's certainly more cheerful now than this morning so that's good  :wow:

I havent tried mine yet for Boy, thats in case if he is not well and they want to test so i dont have to take him to vet only for that, in this new vet Boy doesnt have good reputation, he attacked a vet once and no one really want to handel him :evillaugh: :evillaugh: He is such a gentle cat :)

That's what I tried to use to get Max's sample, and he wouldn't go near it (well apart from to completely ruin it by doing a runny poo )

A shot glass under the stream of wee was a much better idea lol  :evillaugh:

I hope everything is clear.

Btw if you need wee sample again i was told by my vet to buy KatKor, you can get it from the vets and is just a small bag looks like crystal litter and apparently it doesnt absorb liquid and then you can take the sample from the tray, but it has to be a clean try :)

I has a sample, how lucky is that  I saw him sneaking towards the tray and shuffling so I popped a clean bowl under there and hey presto!  I'm quite impressed with myself  :evillaugh: Just off to drop it at the vets..

Thanks all - I remember getting a wee sample from my old boy Sooty (RIP).  Nothing could have been easier then, as he had a really simple morning routine: breakfast - let out into garden - wee - come straight back in.  So all I did was follow him down the garden, wait for him to squat and I snuck up behind him and stuck a saucer underneath   He was so hard of hearing he didn't even notice.

Fortunately I do also have a dog crate so if the worst comes to it I can isolate him until he does a wee - better than him having to stay in the vets to get one!

Geoffrey has just had a spot of lunch so at least he's feeling a little better than earlier on!

just a thought - those little plastic trays that you buy supermarket or M&S veggies in work a treat to be shoved under a cat's bum to get a wee sample, if the cat refuses (like both of mine) to use that white stuff instead of litter. Best to wait until the weeing starts and then make your move! Good luck, hope it's nothing serious and you can get some work done.

Thanks everyone - Just got back from the vets, she says his bladder feels fine but his kidneys are sore, so I'm now on wee watch to try and gather a urine sample!  She was a bit reluctant to give him anything before doing that in case it turns out that there is a problem with his kidneys which we accidentally make worse, so fingers crossed some wee will be forthcoming soon!

I hope so!  He did a wee by the back door at some point overnight (he has two litter trays!) so I wonder if he's got cystitis??  I've got really important stuff going on at work today as well, I just had to ring up and grovel  :evillaugh:

Hopefully, it's just an off-day but sure they will advise.

Something's up with Geoffrey this morning, he hasn't eaten his breakfast (he is usually under my feet before I've got anywhere near the kitchen!) and he is being very quiet - he is usually such a talkative boy.  So I'm sitting here waiting for the vets to open, just another half an hour...
