Well I thought I would give them a couple of days to see if I got any response.   I am not sure what anyone can do because we don;'t know for definite it is one of their's - it could be a cat visiting from another avenue or something.  We are just trying to eliminate the cats we know.  I feel sick to think that they couldn't care less or at least that's the way it seems and I know what you mean.  I would be keen to find out if it was my cat in order that he could get treated asap.

Worth a call to CP or RSPCA?  It sounds like neglect to me, I'd be so worried if I found out something may be wrong with Max, and it sounds like they just don't care....

They both work full time so sadly no.  I don;t think it's the cost, I think it's the effort involved.

Would they qualify for PDSA treatment? If so, perhaps you could tell them this. Cost may be an issue, after all, it's good drinking money.  >:(

I doubt their attitude will be any different.  They only seemed to be interested in alcohol.  One of their cats had kittens once and one of the babies wasn't eating.  Nigel said it needed to go to the vet (it was very very young) and the father said "Oh it will eat when it's ready".  I am at a loss to know what else to do.  If someone had pushed a note like that through my door I would have gone over to see about it.  But then people don't always behave as we would like them to I suppose.  I just feel really sad that there is an unidentified cat which obviously needs to go to a vet and might be nothing more complex than needing antibiotics.  I doubt they would take it nor give it the meds.  Obviously with so many cats it is not something we can effectively monitor ourselves although we have been keeping an eye out to see if we can spot who is doing the bloody poos.

I wonder what her parents attitude is going to be, hopefully not the same (although I suspect she learned it from somewhere) >:(

Now I am feeling quite mad.  My neighbour, Nigel, managed to collar the 20 year old daughter of the house in question.  He asked her had she got my note and she said yes.  He asked her to monitor her cats and their pooing and she told him she wasn't going to do that.  He then suggested her mum or dad did it and offered to take the cat to the vet if identified.  The girl was totally disinterested and shrugged even when Nigel told her it could die and/or spread infection to their other cats.  Why do some people have animals I wonder?

We now have all the responsible cat owner neighbours monitoring their cats.  Can only hope the woman in question takes notice of the note I pushed through her door but she hasn't contacted me yet.

Poor cat. That's the thing with cats that toilet outdoors - two of mine do - it's hard to know if anything's wrong in that area, so to speak! (Note: they all have the option of litter trays, but two use them and two don't.)

I hope your neighbour takes her cat in to the vet soon.

Have just been to put my dustbin out and found stacks more poo  with diarrhoea and more blood.  Have now typed up note in large print and stuffed it through the neighbour's door.

Two are indoor plus mine by choice at the moment.  The rest go out and no they don't fight, they all seem to tolerate each other really well.

Now that I have the rescued ferals I'm trying to home, I can understand how people acquire lots of cats. I've become so fond of them that it will be heartbreaking to part with them, even though I know that I can't afford them all, long-term.  :Luv2:

Tell me about it.  This woman drives us nuts.  On my side of the avenue there are 9 houses with a total of 27 cats between us.  everyone else is responsible and caring about their cats and we all do our best with her but sadly alcohol is far more important to her than her cats (or her daughter for that matter)  We had to virtually force her to get her cats neutered, they were all interbreeding.  Fortunately they are now done but it is doubtful if they ever get vet checked or wormed or de-fleaed (spelling??)

I cannot understand people who will continue to acquire more pets without the means of being able to adequately care for them.   :oh noo:

I was watching Animal planet today and seeing animal hoarders with 70+ animals and dire conditions!  :what:

Keep your eyes peeled for more phantom poos!  :need loo:

Dragan doesn't go out much due to his age, health and the weather! He has the choice but choses to stay in and does his poos on the litter tray.  It happens overnight and in the day too and I just found out the neighbour concerned actually has 12/13 cats not 6.  Haven't been out back this morning as have been fuming over someone pranging my 3 week old car and have been working at Manchester Dogs Home so will go have a ganders in a mo.

does the phantom poo-er strike at night? I can't think of anything other than having the poo analysed to see if there's anything in there that could infect Dragan if he went near it. Does Dragan try to cover it up or is it always in the same place but you get there first? Hope he stays safely away from the poor cat (if it is a cat?) that is ill. Your neighbours' cat/s sound the most likely. Good luck.

Try keeping Dragan in with a litter tray, then you can monitor poos. I hope he's okay.
Why do people have six cats when they can't afford them! (Says she with 9!)

Well so far no luck.  There was more poo with blood yesterday but as yet nothing today.  Can't get hold of the people whose cat we think it might be and my neighbour is trying also.

There is one other problem, we have an alcoholic couple who have about 6 cats living on the avenue.  They have previously been negligent in getting them neutered etc but myself and Nigel one of my neigbours have kept on at them and arranged reduced price neutering etc.  However knowing them as we do no matter what we say about the poo situation they will not react.  They almost let a kitten die of starvation because they couldn't be bothered taking it to the vet - said it would soon start eating!  It's very frustrating.  Nigel has undertaken to have a word with them and my other neighbour is keeping her cats in with a litter tray to monitor their poos.  We only know for sure so far that it isn't Dragan nor is it any of Nigels so will just keep plodding away until we can determine which cat it is.

I am reading your post as meaning that you do not know which cat this is?

How about dropping some little printed notes through neighbourhood doors saying what you have discovered?  If this is a well-loved cat who prefers to poo outside, then responsible owners will take their cats to the vet for a check.  It may mean several people go the the vets unnecessarily, but never mind that...

are you sure its cat and not hedgie or fox or something else.
Until you can work out who the culprit is , there's probably little you can do above what you're doing now without cat proofing the garden.

Cut down risks by ensuring Dragan is up to date with vaccs and worming.

sorry nothing else to add

definitely time for the paper collar - with a note talking about all the possible causes and the need for a vet ... I am sure other members can come up with all manner of horrid possible causes that should send any decent owner scampering for the vet surgery in no time flat ;)

A neighbourhood cat keeps pooping in my garden.  That in itself is not a problem but the poo is very pale in colour and several times has been like diarrhoea (spelling?).  I keep shovelling it up but this morning there was blood and mucuous in it.  I have spoken to my two neighbours who I know have cats and have ruled out at least one of them but obviously there is a cat who needs to see a vet also am worried that my boy Dragan may catch something if it is an infection and at 17 and a half with his health problems that is the last thing I need.  Can anyone think of anything else we can do?
