Vet recommendations in Bristol?

The suggestion below sound good. There is nothing like personal experience.

Another thought is that you could contact the University of Bristol Veterinary Dept. They are one of the universities at the forefront of cat veterinary matters and might be able to offer some suggestions, as they will have close links with some of the Bristol vets.

The leading UK cat welfare and veterinary development charity -Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) sponsor students at various university veterinary units in the UK including Bristol. I have contacted that university in the past and found them extremely helpful when I needed advice

Hi there!

Yes, I'm in Bristol!

I'm not completely 'clued up' on which vet does what in the area, but I can recommend the vet I use which is also used by Cats Protection.  They may be able to refer you to another practice that specialises in elderly cats, if they don't do so themselves (mine are all quite young).  The vet in question is Fernlea Vets - they have two surgeries in Bristol.  Google and they'll come to the top of the list.  They are extremely sympathetic and friendly, and wonderful with the animals - they treat each and every one with loads of love and care   They don't do impersonal.  The only drawback is that they don't offer a 24-hour surgery, but there's emergency vets in Bristol if required.  Two of my friends have already switched to Fernlea cause they're so good with the animals

Might be worth changing the title of the first post to 'Vet recommendations in Bristol'.  I know Catjane is in Bristol, I think Em (Fergus and Polly) and Amy (Minty and Toffee) are too so hopefully they will see it and may be able to recommend somewhere.

I have actually checked the Uni and they only take referrals. Thankfully my boys are very healthy and hopefully won't be visiting there any time soon!

I dont know except i believe they have one of the best veterany schools at the University and that also may be a referral hospital. Dont know if they act as ordinary vets there as well, but worth checking.

I've recently moved to Bristol and since my cats are are getting a little elderly (13), I think I'd like to find them a vet that specialises in older cats. Does anyone have any recommendations in and around Bristol?
