Kylie has gained weight again

I have tried but she isn't really interested in wet food and won't touch fresh meat at all. I will increae her "snakecharmer" sessions - probably safer than a dabird indoors

MArk, I would try a mainly wet diet rather than r/d, I didn't rate that at all. And find a safe way of her playing wiht things like Da Bird.

Aw bless poor Kylie.....curves are coming back in I hear.....mind you with a figure like Kylie's "Miss Trunchbowl" comes to mind! 

She still  though....you must learn to be sensitive about a girls weight you know Mark!

No she hasn't. I will have to keep an eye on her - the vet thinks it's her metabolism that is messed up due to being overweight & not exercising enough.

She isn't interested at the moment but hopefully when it gets a bit warmer she will. I have put willow's food on the kitchen table - hopefully kylie won't realise. She has just had her r/d today - maybe 20 or 30 grams - she really isn't a greedy cat 

If shes not overeating has she been tested for diseases that make you can make you fat, hypothyroid (rare but not impossible) and diabetes?

Unlike Clapton who had cleared 4 pouches so far. He will have a chicken thigh with his fortekor and then another pouch later

Poor Kylie I think the best of us have put weight on since Christmas. Does Kylie go out, because when the weather picks up she may get more exercise which will help.

Ging never puts weight on,he's as skinny as ever but Grwndi is in more and eating therefor he is putting weight on plus the steroids,it ain't easy   so I really sympathise with your situation,thankfully he does enjoy wet food but too much wet and no dry makes him sick,don't ask me why

They don;'t have the same hangups about body weight/shape either.  Don't know what to suggest but has she got a Da Bird?  That keeps Dragan on the run when he is well enough

mine are definately eating more than usual Mark, Oscar was creeping around me this morning for an extra pouch of felix and the plates were licked clean this morning when I came down and normally there is at least one bowl half full

Don't feel bad Mark, it is really hard to get some cats to lose weight.  With Max last year I had a real job cutting down his food and upping his exercise, you'll get there 

I think at this time of year as well, as with hoomans, cats are less likely to want to go run about and be energetic when they can curl up in the warm or on a lap.

Hopefully when the weather turns for the better she'll find lots of things to chase in the garden again.

I suppose they do gain weight (like us) in the winter. Once the spring is here, she lives in the garden and has more things to distract her. At the moment, her favourite thing is the wood burner 

The vet did lay the blame at my door though (not that he could talk if you know what I mean  )

I do try but I can't watch her all the time.

Mark don't take it to heart. Lexy, after her operations, and after the last one, can't jump high and being an indoor cat, no matter how many distractions I give her during the day she sleeps most of it... she's very sedetary and as such does not lose weight the way she should. She's just under 5kg... she should be 4 as like Willow she is a tiny cat....

She doesn't eat loads, she doesn't get more than she should... but she doesn't lose weight.

With 4 cats its tough to find a suitable solution for all of them, but I wouldn't take it to heart that she has put on weight. Its just one of those things, try a different diet if push comes to shove.   Feed her in small portions and often if you can and see if that makes a change... maybe she will stop trying to nab the food off the others.

It was embarrassing with the B&B as people used to make comments like "You can se who gets all the leftovers" etc 
She has never been given rubbish and snacks. She really doesn't eat that much - I told the vet and he said "It's because her metabolism is b.uggered" - give her r/d only - enough for a 6kg and spread it through the day. I will have to keep a closer eye on her pinching the others food - cats are so crafty that it won't be easy

About a year ago, she weighed 7.05kg. 6 months later she had gone down to 6.85kg. The new vet weighed her today and I was hoping she had lost some, although she is having trouble grooming the bottom of her back so wasn't surprised she had gone up to 7.15kg  - I told the vet she has been on r/d for months but keeps pinching the other cats food. He asked if I can feed them separately but it's not practical as Willow eats very little and is a grazer so I can't take her food away. We have tried putting Willow's food in high-up places but Kylie always manages to get to it. We are going to try feeding willow on a mantelpiece as she is tiny and agile enough to get up there - other than that and trying to get Kylie to exercise more, I don't know what else we can do
