Hiya everyone, thanks so much for all your kind messages, well yesterday Daisy had the packing removed and her eye stitched up, even though it was still bleeding when I took her in . he proceeded to sleep most of the day after I collected her, and ate hen went back to sleep. Today she seems really depressed with the collar but seems to be more alert and very hungry so stitches out on the 21st. hopefully things will be fine now.

I took her back to the vets to have her checked they aid things were ok, so she's back first thing tomorrow for packing removing and stitchng up so heres hoping!

Bren, I'm sure she will be fine. It is natural that you worry but try and stay calm. They can feel when we are stressed out, so the best you can do is give her lots of TLC and try and relax a bit (I know that's easier said than done).
Thinking of you guys and keeping my gingers crossed she'll be over her ordeal soon and well again.

Hi, well Daisy has had her op what a trauma she had a big bleed as she had her usual reaction to the anaesthetic and became manic when she came round which caused the bleed, I was shocked to see her when I picked her up and had to stay with her all night so am really shattered its just as well though as she managed to get her buster collar off when I fell asleep briefly fortunately she does'nt seem to have done any damage. I had to ring the emergency vet as during the night as she was still bleeding at 10 pm this ccontinued untill about 1 am but then seemed to settle, she is going back in for another general anaesthetic tomorrow to have the packing removed, I am so worried,

Sorry to hear about Daisy's eye Bren. Try not to worry - as Clare said, King Bilbo has only got one eye himself and it makes not a blind bit of difference, if you forgive the pun. He's d@mn handsome too even if I do say so meself ...

While us inept humans have to depend hugely on our eyesight to get around, cats are armed with so many other senses which are keen enough to compensate the imperfect vision.
I am sure she will have a full happy life with your TLC!!

I've had 2 cats who each had an eye removed, and both were absolutely fine, in fact so much happier without, as the eyes had been causing pain and there was no pain once the eyes were removed.

she will indeed be fine with just the one eye, she is beautiful by the way, such a pretty little face

Removing the eye is quite an easy op really but understandably its one we tend to squirm at when we think about it, stuff to do with the eyes well .... its not nice.
She will have (or you make sure she has) good pain relief for the first couple of days and she'll be fine.

As long as she can see with one eye she should be fine, cos blind deaf cats have a slightly harder life.

But I am sure you know that deaf cats can feel vibrations through floor, or what they sitting on.

I hope the op goes well cos its not nice when they mess you around like that, cos this is very stressful for you as well as the cat.

I'm sure she will be just fine and adjust in time.

Can't remember if its Bilbo or Baggins with one eye, but he's just fine and a very handsome boy

Had Daisy back to the vet today with her eye that has been damaged since she was born her eye has a skin sealed onto her eyeball she had an op to try to remove the skin but it wasn't very successfull and constantly seems to discharge, so it was decided to remove the eye, by the vets who had treated her before she came to me, but on the day it was a different vet who refused to do it saying she had some sigh and could see dark and light. so my own vets tried her with antibiotic eye drops to no avail and have decided today the eye needs to be remove as she definitely has no sight in it, I trust my vet totally, and he will be doing the op, but I feel so scared for Daisy who is also completely deaf has anyone else gone through this with their kitties? I am not sure what to expect.
