Not necessarily, he could be smelling anything that does not smell normal to him, all his senses will be heightened.

Phew thanks  :Luv: I had the same "surprize" seeing Marl doing biting his neck on Garf. Poor little Garf just stood there looking as if to say "what is he doing!"  :-:

What i hate the most is the way Marl has become restless last 5 days and crys so i hope he will be settled after today.

Previously had all me lads in at 5 mths so never experienced it before now.  I wonder if he has never been out why he would start smelling the floor near the front door. Not actually asking to go out but just sniffing near it.  Thank god they don't know what the door is or what's out there and never will.  I wonder if Marl could smell females as the door opens? I read they can smell a female within a 3 mile radious so possible he was smelling that and becoming restless?

this is exactly what happened with Oscar and Algie, they were 51/2 months when we got them from blue cross and I didn't want to wait for them to come home so they weren't done when they came home.  the day after they came home Oscar was mounting Algie constantly and biting the back of his neck, it freaked me out I must say!!  Anyway to cut a long story short I got them done the next day and they were fine after that!

I witnessed a similar thing with Riley, a week or so before D-day (they were neutered at around 5 1/2 months) I found him on top of Lucas which isn't abnormal in a playfight situation but he started to well, *ahem* 'jig'.  I was horrified and quickly distarcted him, I'm pleased to say since that day he has never tried to 'jig' again and the boys are still in love - in a purely platonic brotherly kind of way  :evillaugh:

I'm sure Garf and Marley will be just fine after the offending items have been removed - good luck for the op.  I'm sure you'll be a bag of nerves but they'll be just fine  :)

Thanks all :Luv:  Garfy is def the boss man  he maybe smaller but a stronger personality and Marl knows to saty off my pillow at night as thats Garfs space so he can kneed my hair.  :-: :evillaugh:
Chap is now using ear plugs so he cant hear Garf purr loudly at night and i say it only fair when i have to wear them to drown out Chap's snoorin  :P  :innocent:

Def right CC, not experienced the sexual urge in males with any of my 7 lads previous so a bit disapointed i didnt catch Marl before he knew what they were. I hope he will settle again and both play together after tomorrow . the big chopper's comin  :scared: :evillaugh:

That is just the hormones kicking in, once the (humm dont know what to say ?) the furry dangelers have gone he should get back to normal, this has always been the case with all of my cats anyway. It's really strange because one day they are being themselves and loving then next day they can be trying to "love" something else. It's quite a shock when your not expecting it and have not seen them act like that before.

BTW my cats have all had the chop and they still very much love each other so dont worry  :)

It could just be that as they are maturing, he's wanting to dominate Garf.  Hormones are likely to be partly responsible for that, but it's also just social behaviour.  Mosi was neutered at just gone 5 months and for a few weeks before that he started to behave like that towards Jaffa.  Can't say that neutering stopped the behavour but it did at least take testosterone out of the equation (eventually).  As they grow up they won't necessarily be best buddies since they'll both need to find their feet as adults and their relationship will evolve.  Hopefully they'll settle down and find a way of getting along that works for them both.  I know it's different with Jaffa and Mosi cos Jaffa was 8 when I got Mosi, but after 18 months their relationship is still evolving and Mosi is still trying (and failing) to dominate Jaffa.  It sounds like Marl is the more dominant cat so a lot will probably depend on whether Garf is happy to submit to him or whether it's pistols at dawn until they sort out the pecking order.

Sounds like a dominance thing to me.  Probably with all the testosterone in his system he is feeling a bit "Frisky" and this pining Garf down is a way of  sorting out who is "top cat".  I'm sure once they have had their "furry extras" removed things will settle down again.
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Marl and Garf are now 28 weeks old ( 5 1/2 mths) and are going for the chop tomorrow.  But i am a bit worried about Marls' behaviour last 5 days.
I have always had me lads done snooer rather than later (ie nearer to 5mths then 6) and never experienced what i think are sexual urges before.

Marl for the last 5 days has been well not himself. His has started crying alot and sniffing at the carpet by the door, his play and companionship has almost stopped with Garfy and i have seen him hold Garf in a mounting position grabbing his neck.  He is eating well, poos are normal etc  He is indoor and garden only and always never known what the front door is or asks to go out at all. He just seems depressed at times.

Do you think this sounds like a sexual urge thing and if so because he has experienced these feelings, will he stay the same after he has been neutered or will the fun loving kitten come back?
I cant belive he has changed in the last 5 days esp when he is only 5 1/2 mths old.  He does have rather large items so possible he is maturing earlier than any babe i have had before??

I am worried that the great relationship they have between them will change esp as they are two inddor /garden babes.  :scared:
