I used to give mine Senior food, but then changed to high meat content foods that dont come in that - although HiLife do a Senior pate, 3 flavours, all meat. The main thing to watch with senior food is that it is lower in calories (as oldies are more sedate and need less calories), so if you have one that is on the thin side, it isn't recommended. I currently use a mix of dry though, they have adult and senior, but prefer the adult!!

I shall look out for these... my foster, Jess only likes fishy flavours and is currently addicted to AGAIL ocean box packs (managed to stock up when it was half price).  You're right in thinking these aren't for seniors CC, which is not ideal for Jess at 14, but she won't touch any of the senior foods I've tried... maybe she will like these!

I'm convinced Tesco own in Jelly is lower phosphorus than Whiskas etc as Clapton would only eat that for the longest time and his numbers were improving (he is taking Fortekor as well) My vet said animals are very good at kowing what is good for them. I struggle with senior foods. Another one he will eat is Asda own senior in gravy. It only comes in chicken though. He won't touch felix senior or Whiskas senior supermeat  :tired:

Didn't know they did senior wet foods haven't seen them in tesco mary prefers the tesco ones as well apart from the tuna ones ?   mind shes not keen on fish at all  !

I must say i have seen a marked improvement in her condition and shes put on weight since i started giving her Purina one 7+ which she def likes its munch munch munch ! as soon as the bowl goes down  :evillaugh:

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Although clapton is 8, I wouldn't neccessarily give him senior food but it has much less phosophorus than regular. As Clapton is CRF, he needs a low phosphorus diet. As he won't eat prescription food, this is the next best thing. He also eats some regular food. I just try to keep a happy medium. They say that senior food is gentler on aging kidneys so could prevent or help olde cats getting kidney problems and avoid meds. I would say it may even help them live longer.

Do you really have to feed an older cat senior cat food anyway? My kitten always has her head in the older cats bowls although I put kitten food out for her.

I vaguely remember a joke about someone in the dock and the judge mentioning sucking a fishermen's friend. Even if I could remember how it went, I don't think it would be suitable to post  :evillaugh:

Anyway, clapton has tried the pran flavour and the salmon one and approves - luckily -
he didn't like the meat ones at all and will only eat 2 flavours of the senior in gravy

Sounds intersting thanks Mark, I'll check this out later as I'm shopping at Sainsbury's later today.

Better Fisherman's Choice than Fishermen's Friends  ;D ;D

Mine won't eat whiskers anymore they just lick the jelly off :)
Cats are like little bundles of razor blades wrapped in soft fur.
