I get coley in the frozen part of morrisons and both cats love it. The last time they had it Amber tried refusing to eat normal food after getting it for 2 days because the vet had suggested it for Mogs and its not the kind of thing you can give just one cat. I normally microwave 1 block and they get half each.

Nah its ok honey, I'll get some after the vets visit. She'll tell me what I can give her or not. She's already said that a little fish now and again is fine but we'll have to be strict with diet to get her to lose some weight first. The coley will be a little treat now and again  :)  Haven't seen it in Waitrose to be honest and I visit the fish counter for myself often but they never have many white fish.

I have a list of questions for Caroline already. Top of the list:
Can Lexy eat coley  :naughty:
What can she eat if she's not eating the new prescription food? What I thought was love at first sight was actually plain hunger after not eating for 2 days!

I used to get it for Bambi from waitrose, they do it in fresh and frozen.

Do you want me to get you some and may be on saturday after the vet you can pick it up from me?

The frozen comes in little square 's in 2 or 4 . Its really cheap and stinks but Bambi loved it. ;D

Get yourself a fishing rod, a bit of bait and go and sit on the Thames estuary for a couple of hours

What will she do with the shopping trolley??

I can get it in Morrisons - it is in the freezer bit, and in a pack. The fish is in little oblongs. Usually by the fish finger and the prawns. Generally in a pack of 4 or 6. You can buy cod too, and about £2.99.

Only very slightly off topic but my near neighbour (the one with a Cody lookilikey) swears by pollock now after using coley as treats for years

The magnesium in fish can contribute to urinary issues Mark, I personally wouldnt feed any cat fish daily just in case, but for a cat with known issues, I wouldnt touch it full stop.

Kylie has fish virtually every day and has never had any health problems other than being overweight which coley can't be blamed for  :evillaugh:

Oh god yes I third that (payday)

Its Wednesday for me - I have been counting the days!  :shy:
I went into PAH on Saturday and had to mentally blinker myself and just think "cat shampoo, cat shampoo, cat shampoo" and they didnt even have any  :innocent: which put me off my resolve and I had a look around the aisles and felt bad that I couldnt buy anything

I personally never risked it with Tom, he just had meat treats. I am generally quite good with prices, so how come I spend too much on my shopping??

Remember the time I went to PAH for litter and walked out £200 lighter?  :innocent: Ok, so there were Minimopsical pads in there, but Lexy was a happy girl (or her mummy was)

Cheese (and Gerti and Doc too!) are welcome for fishy and chicken treats!

I am rubbish at that one Ruth - I am a total impulse buyer - especially cat things!  :evillaugh:

Cheese says can she come to live with Auntie Ruth as she likes all this suggestion of fish and chicken :drool;

:evillaugh: I know what you mean Dawn. I'm teaching myself to go to the shop with only the amount I need for what I want or I always come back with more, so it requires knowing what things cost!

Thanks Desley, yes I know, however, I am aware that in small doses and rare treats fish is fine, salmon is the one to stay away from generally (and sadly the one Lexy loves).  All will be clear once vet and I discuss diet going forward. Thank goodness Lexy loves chicken!

Mark even knows the price - I am like that about some things and will say things like "66p for four in ASDA" and Phil looks at me like I am  for remembering

I should buy some coley again for our lot - went down a treat (excuse the pun!) last time  :shy:

I saw some in Asda, and think I bought it from Tesco but they weren't keen. Fish isn't good for cats with urinary issues though Ruth.

Oo will have to see if I'm allowed that for Madam then.  Hope so because she will need to have a nice treat now and again that won't harm her digestive system.

Yes Tesco - it's £2.09 for 6 steaks  ;D

1/2 one is a treat or a whole one a meal  - mine love it. Strangely I have tried other supermarkets and it doesn't go down so well

I have yet to find a single bone in the Tesco one and been buying it for about 5 years  ;D

You can buy it in most supermarkets in the freezer section and cats love it cuz it stinks!  :naughty:

it's dead easy to cook ... but a pice in a bowl, add a small amount of water, cover with cling film and nuke in the microwave for about 2½ - 3 mins.

Allow to cool and present to your cat (water and all).  My lot go mad for it (except Rossi who doesn't do fish!)

Ruth, ASDA and Tesco definitely do it in the frozen section in little boxes (small squares so a serving each packet  ;D )

BC it's a white fish and cheaper than cod and cats love it generally, however, I don't know if Lexy does... she's never had any!

Mark will know I am sure.

I think you can get it at Sainsburys in the frozen department - but don't quote me on it.

Ok a bit of a silly thread I know, but have to ask.

I've searched high and low for coley, even local fishmonger never stocks any. Where does everyone get theirs because its driving me insane.
