It has been 1 year today, since Tatty first stayed with us overnight.
He had been calling round for late breakfast, late lunch and late supper for a while, and would always run away if anyone walked into the kitchen. However, the cat-flap was set to In-Only, while we were trying to get Sweepy in, and when Tatty came in for an unusual early supper, he got trapped indoors. As it was bonfire night, and we had our suspicions that he might be a stray, we decided that it would be safer for him to stay indoors, rather than be outside with all the fireworks going off. He ran and hid under the dining room table, and spent the entire night there. Our Gizzy joined him under the table when the fireworks outside got too noisy for her.
Tatty left us the next day, when the cat-flap was opened, and we didn't see him for about 24 hours
. Then he was popping back in to visit us for his usual meals. It was about 2 or 3 weeks after this that we trapped him indoors again, took him to the vet to be scanned for a microchip, registered him with the local CP branch as a Found cat, posted his details in all the local vet surgeries, and put up Found Cat notices in the local shops. No-one ever contacted me about him. As some of you may remember, he was found to be FIV+ when taken in to the vet to be castrated, and he was also suffering from flu.
He has changed from being a very scared and quite poorly kitty, into a real cuddlebum
, and the 5th of November last year was the start of all that. It hasn't happened overnight, in fact it has taken about 10 months for Tatty to be integrated into our furry family, but it has been worth the wait
. I just wanted to post one picture of what he was like in December last year, together with a few more recent ones, to show what a difference there has been
