Leo eats my hair to wake me up !

And so does Oliver!!  He also likes to lick off the lotion when I put it on... I am not sure if the vanilla scent stimulates his appetite... :evillaugh:  It tickles so much, but when he gets carried away, it starts hurting!!

Max will happily sit and lick John's hair for ages, he doesn't like mine so much, probably as its longer.  I get my forehead and eyelids licked quite often tough, Max will come up the bed for snuggles and I get groomed  :Luv:

Lirael likes to clean me as well at night, she puts her head on my arm and starts with everything in reach of her mouth... I've had many nights with a damp tshirt thanks to her cleaning methods.

Smoke likes ears... or fingers, occastionally toes. Smoke also suffers Lirael cleaning her which normally ends up with the two of them running through the house.

Penguin licks fingers but only after you've eaten crisps.

The foster kittens aren't too sure about this licking thing yet.

Frankie generally will put up with a couple of minutes of Alfie lickling his head before giving him a gentle swipe as if to say "look pal, if I want a wash I''m quite capable of doing it myself ! :)

:evillaugh: I reckon it must be a bonding thing. Thats what I tell meself anyway. Its quite cool really, though I reckon some folk would find it unhygienic. You never know what Bilbo could catch.

I always wanted to know why they do that?
My DD ,RIP used to sleep in my arm and then some mornings she used to start cleaning my hand and arm for so long, and i kept telling her thankyou but can you clean yourself  ? ;D myhand in numb now. But the strange thing was if i moved my hand she grabs it with back legs and her paws and beat me :scared:  I remember last time she beat me i had to go and get antibiotics , i couldnt move my hand for days and my GP said is because there are bacteria in cats teeth which causes the infection.

But may be its the way of saying they accepted you as one of them :Luv:

Boy does it but only when i scratch his tummy , is not the same. I wonder if any one has read anything about this?

Hi Carl,

I hope it's a bonding thing. Only Alfie does it, Suzie and Frankie don't, Alfie licks anything, he's always licking my arms, my forehead, my cheeks and sometimes nibbles gently on my beard which has got to be a grooming thing and he also licks Frankie on his head (much to Frankie's disgust)  ;D Frankie generally will put up with a couple of minutes of Alfie lickling his head before giving him a gentle swipe as if to say "look pal, if I want a wash I''m quite capable of doing it myself ! :) It makes me laugh as Alfie always looks agrieved and I say to him that it's wishfull thinking expecting Frankie to reciprocate but Alfie's the eternal optimist.

Cheers

Leigh

I think they just like the salt on your skin  ;D  Jaffa does give me little licks sometimes which I like to think of as kitty kisses.  He just reaches towards me and gives me a single lick - not a wash  :Luv:

Right then - when a cat cleans another creature, what does it mean?

The reason I ask is that me and Bilbo were slobbing about last night, watchin Bottom I think, when he started washing my head, purring away. Obviously I've seen him and Baggins clean each other, but does it mean that hes accepted me as an honorary cat? Or that I just need a bath?
