Kocka used to have a kink at end of tail too and I am very upset to say I trod on it. I dont think she could feel the tip but it was no problem to her at all, cept when I did it  :'( :'( :'(

I dont think you need to worry with Leo at all cos his tail will be the same length as his body and his balance will improve as he grows up.............another 4 yrs to wait

If his balance is a bit off because of it he will adapt cos cats without tails get on fine and this is just a tiny kink at the end.

Dont worry  ;D

Thats awful Stuart...

...When y cat had a tail pull injury the vet said it was likely he was run over by a car...but that it could have been caused by anything that would have caused his tail to be pulled from his body, including a human pulling it. It will always play on my mind what actually happened that night...and the thought of it being another human/or kids makes me mad. But I will never know... and importantly Bailey recovered and now has a mini tail to make him more of a character!!!!!!

His balance is perfect..he adapted.... infact im sure he now goes higher than he did before!!!!!

When Hamish Disappeared the first time and I found Him being chased by a Bunch of Kids >:(
I was Just Glad to get Him back Home safe, But that Night I noticed His tail was now crooked (about three inches down from the tip)
I took him to the vets, and he had a Hairline Fracture, Probably caused by His Tail Being Pulled  >:( >:( >:( Little  :censored: ers
I did'nt notice any problems with Balance..
I would'nt worry about Leo's Tale, if it is affecting His Balance? "like all animals" He would learn to adapt
and Just Be Normal, and like you said!! as with Hamish " It did'nt Bother Him "

Would have loved to get my hands on the Kid's that Hurt My Babe though  >:( >:( >:(

P.S. Leo's Still Lovely !! :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

I didn't know he had a kinky tail... so does Oliver, so crooked it looks like a hook sticking out side ways when his tail is up, it looks funny and actually rather charming... if you don't know him it may look painful (many people reacted "oh no, poor thing!!") but he was born this way and he is perfectly fine, also his sister is just like that, too.  Was Leo too?  I hope so and he was never subjected to anything painful, and if that is the case he should be okay.
Ollie also hangs around between my legs and his tail became a stepped on victim a couple of times, but he got over it pretty quickly each time, I am sure there is nothing to worry about!!

Thank you xx

I may get the vet to look again when he goes & gets neautered.

I was worried as it just seems like from the kink it didnt grow right to the end..

The appearance as you say adds to his charactor so im not worried unless there will be more complications  :Luv:

No, please don't worry. I didn't mean to upset you.

I am very very very very sure he wouldn't need his tail off. And if the vet knows about it and isn't concerned you have nothing to worry about. My cat was very very different as his whole tail was affected and I need to clean it for him. My story was a very different story from yours.

Im sure his little kink will just be part of his character!!!

Please don't worry  :)

It could be that when he was being born his Mum pulled him out by his tail - Ive heard of this happening.

I don't know very much about this...so others will prob advise you much better than I can.

I can only speak from my experience..my cat Bailey had a 'tail-pull' injury which the vet suspects was the result of a car running over his tail. His tail bone had broken and from the the break down he had no feeling or movement in his tail. It was just limp and floppy. This didn't bother him at all...but it did set his balance off a little. His tail break was quite high up though so it caused other problems as it had stretched his muscles in his bladder and bowels.
Because it whole tail was floppy it sadly had to be amputated as it dragged along the ground and he didn't lift it out the way when he went to the toilet so it was prone to being further hurt or damaged.

It does sound as though Leo may have broken his tail at some point though, but hasn't caused him any problems. I'm sure many cats manage just fine with a break further down their tail. You could get a vet to check...my vet could tell from feeling it but then got x-rays to confirm.

I hope this helps a little.

Leo's Tail
« Reply #1 on: October 09, 2007, 15:58:57 PM »
Well we all know that Leo has a kink in his tail but thats not all..Last night Leo was under my feet as usual ! I accadently trod on  the end of his tail & he didnt even meow or flinch ???

I felt his tail from the kink & it feels like he is missing the bone from the kink.. it just flops around??

Im quite worried now as Ive noticed his balance isnt the best so how is this going to affect him when older ?

Is there anything else that I should worry about this ?  :scared:
