solids get flushed and the rest goes into a garbage bag. As i have covered litter trays anything else in the garbage bag makes it too heavy. So individual packaging for my waste. Collecting it, disposable gloves or pooper scooper depending on the type of litter I am using. Dog is the same, disposable gloves and shopping bag (and yes this does go into the garbage bag with the litter as it kills the smell of dog poo.

You can get it on ebay but the postage is quite pricey.  I've sourced mine from a concession in a garden centre, might be worth a try if you have anything similar near you?

Yeah they looked at me like I had ten heads and how dare do I ask a question when I asked them  :shify:

Not sure where else I could try getting some from as PAH don't do anything like that do they? I have had a look before.

The Jollyes I go to is in Fallowfield - just off the A34 (from where you are, you'd just get onto the A34 then keep going until you get to the end), but they don't sell chick crumbs.  I've looked for them but not asked - although going on when I have asked about stuff I'd get a blank look and an eventual 'no' if I did ask.  Guess there aren't a lot of people with chickens in Fallowfield  ;)

 .... would I?  :slap:

:evillaugh: don't want to embarrass the poor laddy but I could do with a peg cleaning out Lucas's tray

Susanne, do you know where in Manchester one might get some Chick crumbs? I remember you said Jolleys a while back (I got lost looking for it at the time but now I know its just down the A34 isnt it? actually live alot nearer now) but they didnt have any when I checked before.

Poop is collected in kitchen paper and flushed down the loo. I use wood Pellets. The rest gets put in a nappy bin and then once a week moved over to the bins. I am waiting for the day when the bags in nappy bins and litter lockers are eco bags, that way I feel I will do my bit towards teh environment. Until then it goes in the bin.  Lexy can kill you with the smell if you aren't careful. (No comments there Dawn!)

I bag it in scented nappy sacks and put it in the dustbin.  I don't use flushable, but if I do switch to worlds best or chick crumbs I still won't flush it as I've had too many problems with blocked pipes and drains in the past and it's always my flat that gets flooded with sewage when that happens (being on the ground floor)

Theres a state in america who banned the flushing of cat poop, what i read didnt name the 'germ'.

Those outdoor dog poop collectors that you add enzymes too, do they work? I dont fancy stirring it

But don't they throw away baby nappies in the bins?  Are there any complaints about that?  If it is okay with baby poos, why is it a problem with cat poos? :P
I would guess its ok but some people really 'have a go' at animals.

I was quite happily disposing of my cats stuff, in nappy sacks& binn, and sometimes down the loo, then this person had a right go at me, I must admit I was shocked and if there was an environmentla friendly way of course I would do it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but I just coulldnt think of any other way, so I thought I would ask on here.

I use dog toilet bags (can ge them from wilko's) and bin them. They are scented too  :shy:

I use medium food bags from Wilko's they are huge so easy to pick up poo without touching it  - then tie them up - I double-bag to be on the safe side. A pack of 20 is 10p  :evillaugh:

Inside litter trays gets flushed down the loo, outside litter trays get bagged in nappy sacks and put in the bin and when I completely empty the trays I empty into a carrier bag and bin.
(I use Worlds Best)

what? worse than the germs we have? can't see it myself. I don't know the exact treatment but it has to be pretty harsh to kill all the germs

You can only flush certain kinds of litter but plenty of people double bag and put in the bin.

Enviromentalist tosh everything you put in the bin is bad thats why we recycle to save enery and avoid landfill. as for flush how is any different to what we, me, you flush anyway :)

I use chick crumb and flush

hth
apparently (so I am informed by the Eco_warmonger.......more fierce than an eco-warrior) that cat poop has germs (i think, or summat like that) that the waste cleaning places cant get rid of  do you think that is true?

I bag and bin litter, and have put poop in  bags and binned AND down the loo.

I can understand not flushing if you use catsan or other "grit" types as they could block the sewer and/or your pipes - clumping litter definitely a no-no but chick crumb and worlds best are basically foodstuff so shouldn't be a problem at all.

As you say, some environmentalists are OTT - you can't put cat poo on compost heap so what are you supposed to do? - anyway, I double-bag and bin.

please can you tell me how do you dispose of your used cat litter and especially the poop?

Is it OK to bag it and put it in the bin?

or is it OK to flush it down the loo?

I have done both of these things and have been confronted by an angry environmentalist who says I am a disgrace and I am putting other people in danger.....................I feel like a terrorist and I am at a loss how to dispose of this problem.

any suggestions???

I await with baited breath and  PEG on my nose until you tell me what do do with it ........mmmmmmmmmmmmm that line is open to abuse  serious suggestions only please.

lots of love from
