He's lots better, thanks!  ;D Even jumped on to the *wait for it!* second level on the activity centre. If you knew him, you'd have expected a drum roll for that announcement!

His blood test came back at 5.1 which I'm told by the vet is "the higher end of OK." He's advised that if we're concerned we should save for a fructosamine test for accurate readings of longer periods of time.

Thanks, MM. :) Have bookmarked it!

Glad the sugar helped!

Lirael loves watching me make tea and always tries to put her head in the honey jar.

HONEY! Gah, we have some of that. :) He's going for a check up this afternoon, just to make sure he's being given the right amount of caninsulin.

so I gave him a tiny dab of sugar,

I was caring for a diabetic cat (well, one of us was doing the injections and I wasn't). The owner brought a small pot of honey (not that I have some in the house anyway, but I suppose they didn't know that.) and told us if there was a problem to tub a little on the gums.

Yep, that is a GIANT understatement! The Little Junkie (as he is affectionately termed) is actually my partners favourite out of the mob. (I don't have one, but I can see why he is!) and my partner was following him around calling him, and clipping his fingers and allsorts. We both nearly cried with relief when he chilled out!

Thanks Rebecca and Michelle. I did phone two separate vets. (In a mild panic I literally went down the list of vets in the book to see if any were still open for advice.)

I was told to basically observe him. One vet told me to put sugar on his gums then changed her mind, saying she didn't know how much he'd need. When I got off the phone my partner said the same thing so I gave him a tiny dab of sugar, then a second dab when he looked more responsive. He now looks pretty much back to normal, and the vet trip is organised for tomorrow.

If it was Misa, I would agree that he has seen something and is watching it.

Misa is like that with mice and nothing will distract him.

I would say his blood sugars are either too high or too low.
Could you at least speak to a vet this evening for advice ?

He's seen a spider?  :evillaugh:

Sorry.. I don't know really. It might mean his blood sugar's getting a bit edgy one way or the other as I know that can cause some confusion...

I do hope he's OK  :Luv:

...a diabetic cat completely ignores everything you do and starts apparantly "looking" for something? Best course of action please? (And before you say take him to the vets I'm in the process of organising transport for tomorrow morning.)
