Pet insurance advice needed

was looking on the axa website they offer £7000 a year for vet fees and i think its something like 7 quid a month does anyone have any experience with axa are they any good

Don't have any experience with Axa themselves but M&S are underwritten by Axa and they have paid out for Riley with no problems.  Their cover is pretty impressive and matches M&S on the important bit ie 7k per year rather than per condition, M&S have recently drastically increased their prices but Axa seems really good value in comparison. 

I'll have no qualms in switching Lukey to them next year but will have to stick with M&S for Riley as he has a 'non existant pre-existing condition' (lots of expensive tests revealed him to be as fit as a fiddle  ) which I'm not going to give any new insurer the option of wriggling out of paying for any future illnesses!

AXA should be good cos they are also the underwriters of M&S and sainsburys  but like all insurances you must read all the small print.

AS far as I have heard on hear , AXA are offering the same insurance that M&S off and if that is the case I would deal direct with AXA.

Death from illness  up to £500 
Losing a pet is a great sadness, but we will refund the purchase price.
We will pay the price you paid for your pet if it either dies or has to be put to sleep by a vet during the policy year as a result of an illness. If you did not pay for your pet or have no formal proof of how much you paid, we will pay the market value.
Illnesses that first showed clinical signs before your pet’s cover started or within 14 days of your pet’s cover starting are not covered.

Petplan do a 'cat' policy which gives £6k a year.  I don't think it's on their website.  I think their supercat policy is unlimited payouts?

Iv just got a renewal through from M&S and decided to quote from Pet Plan, £15.56 a year (thats the supercat policy which is closest to M&S). Even with a 20% discount its still more than M&S.

Lisa, the middle range plan only gives 4k a year so if you go for pet plan go super. Or check out M&S and AXA's own policy.

To be honest I was thinking the same thing. I was told Pet Plan so I may carry on with them after the initial free 6 weeks ?

I noticed someone said a few weeks ago that it would be good for Companies to offer Insurance for Indoor only cats as they arnt faced with lots & lots of dangers of the outside world are they - so less treatment.

Would be interested in reading responses for this one as I have a while beforwe I make up my mind

Sainsburys is per condition not per year Gill, I am with them but wouldnt recommend them for younger cats, you need per year for younger cats. if you do a search on here, you should find some comparisions Helen has posted.

The best bets around are M&S, Axa and Sainsburys although the latter does not give quite as good cover.

The best are those who give you cover for life rather than per condition like Sainsburys.  ie £7000 each year rather than £7000 for ' a sickness' for the whole of the cats life. Also ones who give cover for necessary dental care. Look at the amount of excess.

EDIT: Ummmmmmm Des I didnt mean that Sainsburys was per year but that a per year one is best , sorry lousy english

Hi guys,
I hope you can help me on this one,I need pet insurance for my two there both a year old and indoor cats . I've been looking around and to be honest I'm completley baffled . What should i be looking for?Who should i be avoiding? i really don't know what to do I know that the cheapest doesnt always mean i'm covered for everything what are the main things i need cover for?
