Well I hope everything goes well for him.  Sorry I could not help in this circumstance but with him not liking other cats, he would have been very unhappy here with another 30+.

Just wondered if anyone would recommend putting a poster up in the local pet shops at all?  Is this a good idea or not?

I would never advise anyone to ever advertise a pet in a pet shop. if you need to advertise the only place I would ever suggest is in a vets surgery.

Hopefully the rescue will be able to take in Robbie very soon.

Have to agree with Nick, there is no way I would give up my cats.

How did you do the introductions when you tried?

Have you tried any of your near neighbours ?  It would be less stressful for him to at least stay in the same territory he is used to . Otherwise he is going to have to adjust to a new owner and a new area.
Very sorry to hear you have this awful choice. If it were me I would ask my partner to part with one of his three cats. The one that is the trouble maker perhaps >:(

Truth is nothing on earth would make me part with my cats  :Luv:

If your local pet shop agrees to putting up a poster can't see a problem with it ... I assume you will do a homecheck and 2vet" the potential new owners.

Have your tried asking your colleagues / friends / relatives to see if they can offer Robbie a home?

Thanks for all your support and kind words.

Just wondered if anyone would recommend putting a poster up in the local pet shops at all?  Is this a good idea or not?

I am very concerned that he goes to a suitable home where they will love him as much as I do and I really think he needs an experienced cat owner.

Any comments gratefully received  :thanks:

Hi Michelle

Did think about ditching the boyfriend  :evillaugh:

We tried it for a month and it was just awful.  Boyfriend has tried it also with another cat some years ago and his cats just wouldn't accept another cat in their house.

I would really love for Robbie to be able to go from his existing home to his new owners home and settle in that way.

Hi Seph,

Ditch the partner is what i say

No only playing -
When you say Robbie (great name BTW) doesnt get on with your partners cats how long have you tried them together for ?

It would take time for them all to get on and would be needed to be done properly.
Could this be an option for you rather than rehoming ?

Hi sorry to hear you are having to rehome Robbie.  I don't doubt you have contacted all resuces but I am enclosing a link to the resuces page of catchat just in case there are any you may have missed:

New home needed for my beloved cat

Please help me!!!

I need to find a new home for my 5 year old male cat Robbie.  I am moving and am unable to take him with me.  I have contacted all the local resuce centres  but they are full and have put posters in my local vets but there has been no response as yet.

Robbie is a fairly big cat, he is very affectionale and loves sitting on laps and being stroked.  He adores playing with ping pong balls and being made a fuss of.  He can be very assertive and he knows what he wants and he will make sure that you do too!!! He loves to be whereever you are in the home and is more than happy to just sit and watch what you are doing.  He has been neutered and had his booster vacinations last week.

He is used to being the only pet in the household and he does occasionaly nip so a home free of young children would be better for him.  Since birth he has been an indoor cat but I would love him to have the opportunity to go outside, if he wanted to.  He is fantastic company and has been there for me when times have been tough.

I really need to find him a new home by the end of September at the very latest.  I am living in the Southamton area in Hampshire.

I hope that someone is able to help us!!
