So sorry to hear this, another little one taken too soon  RIP little Stan, safe and sound at Rainbow Bridge until your Mum is ready to collect you xx

The Greatest Gift

I always knew this time would come,
From the very instant our eyes first met.
How I loved you then! How I love you now!
I made a promise then, and I will keep that promise now...
You will not suffer from a pain that will not heal;
You will not know the loss of a life remembered, now gone.

It is for me alone to make this decision,
The price for the bright joy and pure laughter
You brought me during the time we shared.
I am the only one who can decide when it is time.
When my hope dies, and my fear rides high,
Just when I need you most, I must let you go.

It is for you alone to tell me when you are ready
For without your guidance, I will not know
When to lay my grief, my guilt, my anger
My sorrow and my selfish heart aside
And give you this last gift, this greatest gift.
Your eyes will speak to mine, and I will know.

The pain of this moment is excruciating.
Tears stream down my face in a river of sorrow.
And my heart drowns in a pool of grief.
For you have spoken and I have listened,
And unlike other decisions I have made
This one brings no relief...no comfort...no peace.

For if there´s one thing you´ve taught me,
If there´s only one thing I´ve learned...
Unconditional love has a condition after all,
I must be willing to let you go, when you speak to me
I must be willing to help you go, if you cannot go alone.
And I must accept my pain so you can be free of yours.

Go easily now, go quickly now,
Do not linger here, it is time for you to leave.
Go find your strength, go find your youth.
Go find the ones who've gone before you.
You are free to leave me now, free to let your spirit soar
Rest easy now, your pain will soon be gone.

I pray I will find comfort in my memories...
In the dark and lonely days ahead.
I cannot say I will not miss you, I cannot say I will not cry.
For only my tears can heal my broken heart.
But, I promise you this; as long as I live,
You will live, alive in my mind, forever in my heart.

So I give you this last gift, all I have left to give,
And this will be my greatest gift...sending you away.
It is the measure of my unconditional love...
For only the greatest love can say,
"Good-bye, go find the bridge, we'll meet again,
Loving you has been the greatest gift of all."

Forever and Always... Until Rainbow bridge....

Caroline - I am so sorry to hear this

I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path that has been laid you see.

I took the hand when I heard the call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day.
To run, to love, to meow or play.

things left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void, then fill
it with remembered joys.

A friendship shared, a stroke, a kiss.
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savoured much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
The Bridge wanted me now and set me free!

 :RIP:   Stan

I am very sad to say that Stanley was put to sleep this morning. The vet had done some x-rays and he had a tumor in his lungs which was too big for them to be able to do any thing with, this had spread through his body.
We were to lucky to have had him even though it was for a such a short time.
thank you for your support.

:( just been to take Stan back to the vets as things have not improved. Poor Stan is not well at all. They think he has liver problems and that the anaesthetic may have triggered....
fingers crossed all works out okay.
thank you all for you replies.

are his ears hot to the touch? - my vet says that is an easy way to check for a raised temperature

When you say last week how many days ago was it?  When I had my two cats (brothers) neutered one of them was very subdued, sleeping alot, not eating very much, he just seemed so sad.  If I'd just had the one cat I might have thought this was normal but seeing how his brother was ie  completely normal racing around like a loon it prompted me to take him back to the vets for a post neuter check up (he was still 'poorly' on the third day after the op) and he ended up having antibiotics.

I started a thread about it at the time: http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,6790.0.html

Oh,  :welcome: to Purrs btw  :)

Hello Caroline and   :welcome:  to Purrs

Sorry that Stan appears to be having a nasty reaction to the anaesthetic or operation in general.  I feel that a return trip to the Vets would be advisable.
I am sure that Stan will get better and I am sure this is just a blip, a very unfortunate blip so to speak.

I appreciate that you are worried sick and am sending loads of

Good to speak to you earlier in the Chat room - look forward to seeing you posting

Change in personality since being neutered

Hi could anyone give us some advice? We had our 6 mth kitten neutered last week and he has gone from being king of the castle full of personality to not wanting anything to do with us. He spends most of his time asleep and will not come near us, he is a little off his food and sleepy. your advice would be very welcome...
