Cat entrapment- the gang will not be happy!

OMG!!! How did that happen??? Im really puzzled at how they have managed this as i sat in yr back garden yesterday with all the cats for hours 

Im having my own probs with Maisey (aka Lara C) she is the only one out of 9 cats who have managed to escape.....i am in desperation and am sick of moving the dust bin trying to stop her jumping from it 

She is defo using her lack of weight to her advantage....being only approx 8 months old!!! Other's are too heavy or chicken 

ps...does anyone have any suggestions for adhering something on the top of me bin so she cant jump on top.....PLEASE

I am not happy! Harry, Macey and Ted managed to get out last night. This morning only Harry and Macey. I seen where last night and fixed the problem but this morning I have scanned the fence and just cant see how they are doing it, they are driving me crazy!!!!!!!

Hallelujah, Harry has been trapped in the garden. He's been out since 9.30 and still cant get out .

Ahh so the wire can hold his weight. If its just the one spot he uses to escape could you replace with netting? That deffo wont hold his weight

I have just used rabbit wire fencing and right angle posts, it looks menacing but its keeping the other 3 in. I dont think there is any other way to keep Harry in unless I totally cover the garden. Im going to have to start feeding him up as he is using his weight to his advantage.

Oh my................I think he is inhappy at you, thinks this obstacle course is a challenge but could get hurt.

I think we need see a photo of your cat proofing to see what we can suggest.

Nope I have seen him getting out, its like a scene from mission impossible, he uses the post in a monkey bar fashion then flips over the wire.

I is thinking he is thinking he is not a cat!!!!.

What on earth am I to do?

Harry has done it again! Don't know how he has got out? the fence has been sorted and even big Ted cannot get out 

Sat out with them this morn and as soon as I went back in the house he was gone, don't know how argh!

Maybe he is the famous Houdini reincarnated?

Hi cc ours has been done a year next weekend and apart from running up the fence half way a few times and realising there was no where to go we haven't had any escapes.  The garden does have a few trees (in the middle) that they climb and I do play with them with balls and things but they keep themselves amused pretty well.  As you have discovered  butterflies and moths become very fair game and at this time of year I get one or the other most days.  I still think of them as outdoor cats for injections but I don't seem to have to use as much frontline as I used to they don't seem to get fleas any more not sure why but I'm not complaining - hope things with the baby are going well!

My garden is only half the size of CC's and my cats cant get enough of it.....a couple have even got a little trimmer 

Harry is a monkey like my Maisey......

My cats would sit out all day if i were their with them.....always have at least two following me round

Hum I'm rubbish with measurements lol, 30ft squared I think or 30meters squared. They used to go out of the garden after that I don't know lol.

Harry has done it again! All the others cant get out now but he is the smallest and using it to his advantage!

Ollie and Macey are currently roamimg the garden coming up with plans. 

I see it now - the great escape mach II, kitties on motorcycles skimming the top of fences in their heroic bid for freedom . They will settle down after a bit, mine did.

One problem Harry Houdini has managed to get out, and big Ted. I know their escape route though so that will be getting fixed in the morning.

I have put their cat tree out and there is a tunnel out there for them too, there are also Leo's bigger toys which they like to hide under and sit on.

Ollie has tried to get out, he managed to climb the fence but got stuck at the top when he met the wire lol

I guess it doesn't matter what you call them, but they're indoor/outdoor in terms of needing flea treatment etc as frequently as indoor/outdoor cats do.

If you try to make it an attractive place for them with lots to do I'm sure they'll be fine being confined to the garden.  Get some outdoor cat furniture (someone posted a link to some great outdoor stuff a while back - cat play stations or something), provide tunnels, maybe a rope if there is something it can hang from and some plants that are suitable.

Interesting, when I had my cats indoors with a really extensive run right through the back garden (and I mean really extensive) I still thought of them as indoor cats, is this one of those half-full glass things??

How do I keep them entertained/ exercised as they have less space to roam?

Yes, I agree - they are indoor/outdoor and safely so.

Plant the garden with lots of plants that they can climb into and that rustle - like bamboos and ornamental grasses. These also serve as areas to hide in/under! Put some climbing posts up like the one I've got in my garden. Put lights around the garden (solar are easy) - to attract moths at night, for them to chase! Try a water feature, you know how they like running water! you can get small bubble type fountains.

They are still indoor/ourdoor but in a cat safe environment.

I have finally cat proofed my garden and my kittys will not be too chuffed! The only one that has had a go of getting out has been Macey, the others are all asleep. She is not too happy about this, she has tried to get out every way known to her with no success, ha ha! Now I'm being ignored lol. What are the others going to make of it 

I do feel a little bad in doing this but oh just think of the benefits, no more late nights, no more birds being brought home, no more worrying about them getting hurt outside, yippee!

Macey did manage to catch a really big butterfly this morning, (she usually brings home feathers or big pieces of grass). This to me symbolises a new beginning for my little cat family. 

I'm now really happy that my little furry family are going to be safe.
