I cried my heart out when I listened to Rainbow Bridge - I'd actually never heard of it before I came on here and I've had cats since I was 3 weeks old and now I'm 50!!

It's soooo sad but at the same time it's comforting and unfortunately for everyone death is part of life BUT everyone of us will be making the most of our lives with our cats and other pets I am sure.

It is perhaps the saddest part of the site but it is also an amazing place where we post tributes to the fur kids who have graced our lives, some for many years others for a fleeting moment doesn't make them any less special just thoughts of what if

I know on writing both my cat and doggie tributes I use a box of tissues then it all start again with the photograph session

I for one have been blessed by the the Clan Cats and my 2 precious Doggies  who are now at the Bridge who have been in our lives, I look at all the ones who now let me share their lives and give thanks for them all

Through the years the laughter and the tears bring memories I for one wouldn't part with for all the world but what I would give for one more cuddle, one more hiss or one more game of ball with the dogs isn't measurable :Luv2:

I also treasure every moment the Clan Cats and dogs give us today  :Luv2:

Rainbow bridge is a sad place, and it does often make me cry, but it also makes me happy that there are people who love their cats so much. it gives me faith

i live near newstead abbey which is where byron lived for a time. theres a tomb/monument in the grounds to his Dog boatswain. what Byron has written always makes me cry but its always the first place i go to see. it really is beautiful and expresses so well how deep the love of a companion animal goes

I read through Max's Bridge tribute a few weeks ago, and I was in tears for ages again, although it was last July, it still only feels like yesterday since he left us  :'( :'(

I find the Rainbow Bridge posts sad too ....one of the reasons is because I know the pain of the owner....

I don't ever read Issey's post of Rainbow Bridge but I do something read through her thread on Health and behaviour - even now I still can't quite believe she isn't here anymore  :(

I don't often read the Rainbow Bridge section any more  :'( :'(

I do add hugs on there though, as I know how much kind words and hugs mean when you're feeling down  :shy:

 I must admit I was looking at Joe the other day when he was having his usual mad five minutes chasing my hand under the duvet LOL! - and thought, theres going to be a day when he's not going to be here doing this and it made me feel so sad. He's already 12 yrs old (doesnt act it though!) but I still think of him as that 3 month old kitten and find it hard to believe where the years have gone. I don't know why I thought of him in particular, its just that when they are doing their quirky things they do - it brings it home that they won't always be here.  :( But as Dawn and JS said, we should really focus on the good times and the 'here and now' - difficult sometimes though.

I think an occcasioinal read of Rainbow Bridge is good for us and it makes us so much more aware of how people love their cats and how much a part of the family they are.

Sadly all of life is not sweet and good and Rainbow Bridge is the hard part, I keep a record of all the cats that pass to the Bridge each year for the Purrs  Birthday Roll of Honour and I can look through these and listen to the music and many of the names bring back so many memprries on Purrs.

The first time I did this I had to go back throiugh every post on Purrs to find them and it broke my heart and used box after box of tissues......just writing this brings back the memories. Now I do it as I go along, which has just reminded me that one very important little cat is not on the list yet cos I was so heart broken.

Dont let anyone stop you reading aqbout the Bridge cats cos they are all loved by someone and you do them the honour of remembering them

Never assume that, and never focus on it.  It's hard losing anyone you love regardless of species, and the last thing you want to be doing is dwelling on how you'll feel. Enjoy Marley, Ben, Tia and Oscar while you get them with you.

OH will be cross with me, just been reading rainbow bridge, it always makes me cry and OH says I shouldnt read it because of this.

Just realised that all my animals are around the same age, Marley 2yrs, Ben 3mths, Tia 1 & Oscar 1.

Providing they all live long healthy lives they will all be leaving me for the bridge around the same time  :(
