Nor Bertie's growth - in fact, the vet has done me a favour there as he's a huggggge cat anyway and I can't get planning permission for an extension  ;D

Good luck with your vet, so many are still stuck with the 6 month rule  >:(
My boys were done at 17 weeks due to large packages and randy behaviour. It hasnt effected their growth in any way.

Bertie is ginger so perhaps that explains his behaviour!!  You're lucky Esther is spayed - my Matilda wasn't as she was from the same litter as Bert so was also only 3 months old, so I was worried sick, but luckily she was the opposite and ended up not being spayed until 8 months because she wasn't ready.

no danger of Esther getting pregnant - she is spayed, and has just weaned her last litter. Aby's are a fairly dominant breed - and his elder brother took on my dog and won (not that Shadow put up a fight, he just cowered in a corner and apologised profusely for being a dog  :Luv:)
He is also quite large for his age and his testes have definitely descended so I will discuss the options with the vet when we go this week ...

Ember keeps mounting my little Junkie! It's driving me mad, because he's always at the bottom of the pecking order - he's so chilled out he's nearly always laying down!

red cats do seem to mature a bit quicker - he's certainly old enough to be neutered so I'd try to get him done asap.

Abys and somalis do tend to be dominant cats too.

picture below, and a bit short of four months

I have had a number of Ginger boys  who have matured at this age, perhaps you could have a word with the vet as we all know it is possible for females to get pregnant at this age also.

well yes there has been a fair bit of that going on, even though they seem to be good friends too.

It might not be sexual behaviour - they mount each other in dominance behaviour too.  When Mosi was little Jaffa would mount him so that he was pinned to the ground.  It did look as though he was trying to mate him!  But he was just dominating him.

What colour is he and how old?

Esther is the black one, Smidgen the ticked tabby - he is an abyssinian cross

Hi Blackcat - I can top this - my cat Bertie started behaving in a rather worrying sexual way towards my female kitten when he was only 3.5 months old - vet didn't seem to think there was a problem and just recommended immediate castration, which was done on January 12, and he was born on September 10.  He's suffered no ill-effects from having the op done slightly earlier than normal ... guess some cats just mature earlier than others.

OK, I know when kittens play they are often going through a learning process and so emulating adult behaviour, but............ Smidgen, this morning, mounted Esther. The full-on mount with biting of the back of the neck. Not play wrestling but the full sexual posture (i have seen cats mating before). She didn't seem overly perturbed, if a little bemused, but does this mean my little man is maturing a little too fast??? He was born 8 May so I guess that makes him nearly four months. (We are seeing the vet this coming week for his second shot so can ask them about it but thought you guys might have views on the subject.
