Update:
Wee Sox has nothing more than a good old fashioned abscess. Which is really, really great news for all concerned. He's been treated and will be realised back tonight - but will the little darling be grateful? Probably not!

Pleased to report Sox was was caught, using a variety of methods, this morning.
I have never known such a devious puss. He can't decide whether he's feral or tame, but stays mostly feral. Trouble is he knows full well what a trap is as last time we caught him, we had it away with his jewels.
Let's hope his leg is easily fixed....

I was setting the trap. It was poised to go, all I had to do was bait it. I removed the plastic panel from the bait area, and went to the car to get the Kentucky. When i turned around, what did I see? Ruddy Sox sitting smack in the middle of the trap enjoying the view.
Of course, even if he had of sprung it, the end wasn't there!
He just waltzed out the otherside and off down the street.
It turns out that Sox has grown quite fond of his carers and will come up to them for a stroke and a tickle. We tried for ages and ages to grab him, but every time we made a movement for the basket, he ran. We tried to scruff him, but the rugger just did a flip roll and broke free. I've left the trap with them and I've come home now to wait for them to call me. It really wasn't worth 4 of us chasing this cat - and he doesn't even know me.
If only I'd had a net and some gauntlets. We'd have had him in minutes

If I'm not back by 10.30pm, send Vodka to the field opposite Canterbury barracks.
You don't go armed with a hip flask?

Right, I've now got the trap, so I'm now off to get the Kentucky.
Sox had better be grateful - little darling.

I am shortly off on a stake out to catch the fabled illusive Sox.
Sox was rehomed by our CP some time back. He's semi feral and has a 'carer' rather than a meowmy. She feeds him and in return she's allowed to tickle his chin for a few seconds - maybe! - once in a while. Sox lives in a perfect spot - a border between some very quiet housing and agricultural land. This last week, though, he has been seen to drag a leg and needs to be inspected by a vet. Muggings volunteered for the job of nabbing him.
It would be nice to come back to tell you all I've got him nicely in the pen, but I'll probably end up catless and covered in mud and 'agricultural by-products'
Wish me luck!
