Unless things have changed since I moved , Croydon CP dont answer phones at weekends.

In the June before I moved a stray cat who had been fed by the neighbours and then gone on holiday, was just sitting in middle of my road or rushing into my house when I opened the door. Couldnt get anyone from CP to help and by chance I got a number for another rescue who came around midnight to get the cat. She was so cute but hated Kocka, who was by then very old and sick.

Phone the CP or take it to the nearest vet or both...  :sneaky:

Good idea  ;)  If the CP won't help, I'll try and sort something out that end for it but it will be when I get in from work if that's alright.

Lindyloo, I can't phone anyone at the moment as our phone line is down but I'll email the lady who contacted me, and I'll ask them to get in touch with the CP, thanks.

You will almost certainly get an answerphone because that is they only way they can operate with out going mad -

That is not true as I answer every call if at all possible. Then again I cannot vouch for my sanity.

If you haven't already tried Croydon CP I would call them - I worked for them for years before I moved, they are a very active branch. Of course they are inundated with calls at this time of year when I was with them I used to get dozens of calls a day not just from Croydon but all over South London where rescue groups are in short supply.
You will almost certainly get an answerphone because that is they only way they can operate with out going mad - but it is worth leaving a message to call you back. They do have a website if anyone is interested.

CP up here came looking for Toppy (the black cat wondering aroudn my road earlier this year) and they got him.

We too go out and often spend hours looking, however, I do understand that some branches do have a lack of manpower, although I would be very surprised if this were the case with Croydon as they seem to be one of CP's flagship branches, they are always getting a mention.

I do know that another famous rescue will not come at and look, ( not in the numerous cases I know about anyway) I myself have been told more than once that unless the cat is contained they will not come out. Of course we all know when Rolf Harris was on TV up to 5 inspectors. Yet I was told once when I phoned that there was only one inspector is covering 5 counties.

I remember i poor cat that was badly injured and on someones doorstep, they were told that they must contain it so it would be their when the inspector called, the finder said that they could would be there as it could not move, but they were again told that if the cat was not contained they would not come out. I was called and within a very short time the cat was at the vets getting the treatment it needed.

Dunno. I've never had dealings with Croydon CP...  :shify:

I know the area fairly well, I used to live a few miles from there and still have friends in Croydon - but it's about 1.5 hours drive from me now. I could take a trip there over the weekend. I may even be able to borrow a trap... but then I'd have to bring kitty back to Kent.  :scared:

Anyway, keep me posted of further sightings if you hear anything, Dawn. Or even pass my details on to anyone monitoring.  ;)

Thanks Pinkbear   I will let you know if I hear anymore, xxxx

Not sure about the CP, will they actually go looking for the cat if we're not sure 100% of the location?

Seen on Tuesday 24th July on Addington Road, between Sanderstead pond and Selsdon
Park Hotel, CR2 Postcode, house numbers 1-20 approx.  going toward Sainsburys on the
right hand side of the road at about 6.15pm. Opposite Sanderstead Plantation. A
very poorly looking cat with matted fur in clumps
in a bad way this cat was fluffy tabby with a white bib.

Can anyone please try to find this cat.  It is a long shot, but is there anyone
please in the area that could go and take a look.

 :thanks:
