I think he will stay with us but the lady at the rescue wanted to say 'long term foster' in case he develops health problems that may require lots of treatment - she didn't want me to officially adopt him as we don't know what his future health will be like and she said she couldn't put that unknown onto me. Of course, I will be contributing if there are any issues, but obviously insurance companies are v reluctant to touch him as he is so we will see how he copes as he gets older.

What does long term foster mean though?  Does that mean he is still looking for a forever home if the right person comes along?  I'd be incredibly tempted to keep him if I were you, he sounds like a wonderful little boy

He really does Ruth - he's a perfectly normal, happy, loving kitten - he just can't help but bash into things and he never lands on his feet bless him!

About 2 months ago I was asked to babysit a mother and kittens whilst the rescue lady went on holiday. It was fab having 5 little lovelies running around but it was clear one little boy wasn't quite right. He'd run into furniture, peck at his food and run like his legs were too big for him. When the lady returned we decided to get him checked out. The vet told us part of his brain that was responsible for coordination had not developed as it should and he would permanently be this way. My Oh and I had already discussed adopting him before the vet visit and after the diagnoses we were determnied. He is actually now a long term foster to see how he goes. My little boy named him Purrcy (he's obsessed with Thomas the Tank) and he is an absolute stunner. He's tabby and white, has THE LOUDEST purr ever heard, gives lots of licks and just loves attention. He'll never be an outdoor cat as he is vulnerable to attack from other cats, but this little boy has brought so much love and laughter with his funny little ways that if he has to stay here forever then we'd be more than happy! As he grows I'm sure his running into furniture might start putting dents in them, but we're prepared! My little boy is so gentle with him and can just sit and watch him.
