Neither mine nor the rescues vet like PetPlan, they have both had issues with them paying up for clients. And the rescues vet was over dentals, she did have a go at the rep though for it!!
Please spay your cat

That's good then they they've paid out for dental work for you - makes me feel a bit more confident!

Some will pay for dental work if it is due to an illness - i.e. not cosmetic.

We are (fingers crossed) going to have some of Jasper's teeth out as even though he is a young cat (5 this year) he does have severe gingivitus (sp!), and it's got to the stage now whereby the teeth are being affected by it. The vets are filling in a pre-claim form for PetPlan to see if they will definetly cover the claim - as we dont want to have it done only to be told no! The vet said that they should pay out for this situation.

Yup - I know some do, that's why I said some don't  ;) ;D  I think most will cover dentals if they are a result of illness (eg gingivitis) but I have seen policies that state they will only cover dental work that is needed as a result of an accident.  I think the line between cosmetic dental work and health related dental work is blurred but there's not really any reason to do a dental at all unless there is a problem (gingivitis, problems eating etc) so most policies ought to cover dentals.  I think it is an area where people do have problems though.

Petplan do cover dentals - I claimed for Jaffa's dental last year (cleaning, 2 extractions, pre-op bloods, iv drip - the works) and they paid in full minus the excess.  If there's a problem don't let it drop - if my vets can get it for me yours should be able to get it too.  The only problem was that the claim form asked for dental history, which can only really be previous examinations at annual check up time.  Initially the receptionist just wrote on the form the dates of the examinations, and petplan came back wanting more information.  I passed the query onto my vets who spoke to someone at petplan's vet line (for vets only) and the result was they faxed something over to petplan (not sure what) and I got my money in a matter of days.

M&S is popular with peeps on here, although most premiums have gone up recently.  I'm with petplan and am happy with the level of cover and the 2 claims I've made to date (both paid  promptly).  Their excess for older cats is a bit high, but given the hike in premiums with M&S lately I'm not too bothered - ie you can get what you think is a bargain but then they up the premiums and it's not quite such a bargain, so it's important to be happy with the policy overall as it's not always easy to change policies if you have made a claim.  Just make sure you check the level of cover, make sure it's per year rather than per condition and read the exclusions carefully to see what, if anything, will be excluded.  Some policies will only cover dental work if it's a result of an accident.

Max is with M&S, but touch wood haven't had to claim yet, so can't really comment on how good they are .... I followed some of the recommendations on here though, previously I was with More Than but changed due to the level of cover.  I think the main thing you have to check is whether its a set amount per condition, or whether they will pay that amount per year to cover that condition.

I'm sure some of the more experienced peeps can elaborate on that.
